SHOCKER! This is basically doing an impossible with all the odds stacked against him. Congrats even with him belting out and being static almost thoughout the performance.

People across Europe really took their phones and voted for someone who has 6 jobs to help his family xcry

Dons' six jobs
People were taking into account this emotional background when picking up phones and voting for their favorites on Thursday. I feel it. That explains the qualification for Latvia. It is not about the song, the show or the lack of it, it is about the truly personal experience that Dons has been going through. And I applaud him for that.

A positive surprise, I didn't believe he could make it only with the televoting. While I don't expect too much tonight, it is nice that we will get to hear it one more time.

This is my father's favorite, he said it will make it through even before the voting started. He beat the odds.

I always thought the bubble and the odds were sleeping on this one. It was obviously going to appeal to people who like ballads sung well. Well done, Latvia!

Jokes aside, wishing him and my country Latvia best of luck. I am not watching Eurovision anymore and have not heard any of the songs this year except this one as it is being played everywhere so I do not really know what to expect. It was a complete shock to me that this song qualified as I was expecting another last place in SF for Latvia with a tragic score but it just seems that Hollow managed to stand out in a certain way that some voters needed. My prediction is something between 17th and 21st in the Final, depends on juries. Some points from the public would also be nice even if I am not expecting much, but as it made it to the final from a televoting only semi-final then I think there is a solid chance avoiding a 0, at least I that is what I am hoping for. Dons is a well-respected musician in Latvia anyway and no matter what the final outcome is, people here are proud of him and overall reaction is very positive.

For a seemingly chanceless song to even escape a bottom 5 results, Latvia/Dons is definitely the underdog and over-looked for this season. Congrats on breaking the NQ streak. I hope the Latvians and fans of the song are pleased with the overall placement.

The absolute triumph that was this not only qualifying, but qualifying comfortably, and proceeding to still pick up televote in the final in a year where the televoting was skewed as hell. 😍

I am not surprised this got to the final and had a decent finish. His vocals are great and the chorus of the song is one that sticks in your head, great song.

I never got why this was rated so lowly in the first place. To me it felt like an obvious dark horse. Glad he did so well, i think what kept it from doing even better is that it was all about a few "giants" for most voters.
