Some songs are quite uninspired ... but there are also some pearls in this section! My faves for now (need to listen to them a couple of times) are

SUDDEN LIGHTS - Aijā
INSPO - Sway
PATRISHA - Hush
LUĪZE - You To Hold Me

Justs' song is boring unfortunately.

@Looren Is KATRINE MILLER - Beaten Down something for you?

Tumblr, mostly.
I'm not home atm, but before I left I got to listen to half of them, and...

Latvia are #Trying (to turn things around), and it shows. Good production value, most of these songs have something I like. Only, nothing is particularly competitive? Qualification will be a struggle, which sucks because I like this selection (so far)

Oh and Justs's song is mehness embodied. I don't think he's winning Supernova this year.

Not sure what Boris is listening too but this is once again a terrible selection from Latvia with very few risks taken. Avéi is my favorite and one of the few songs I got a reaction out of. Inspo despite downgrading from last year are also in my top 3 and Luize's self pen ballad is pretty too.

Patrisha deciding to sing in English when nearly all her past material in Latvian was a choice. Sudden Lights have a much weaker song than in 2018. Markus Riva despite changing to an 80's song this time around doesn't cut it for me. Justs did an Aminata coming back with a middle of the road song that I can't see winning either.

I only had a quick listen of the song recap on Youtube and oh yes, this is a very good year fo :lv: standards!

OMG both Justs and Sudden Lights are back! I can't believe it! Probably my two most beloved :lv: Eurovision/NF acts!!! Justs song might be meh (I will give it another try) but thank god he is back!

It will need another listen for any further comments on the song, will be back soon...

I agree with you about the favourites except for LUĪZE.

Sudden Lights is my clear favourite! Oh yes, what a nice song. And the ending of the song, so cute! This would be a very decent choice. Patrisha also has a quite unique and memorable song. Inspo wouldn't be my first choice but it's okay too - probably my #3.

Just's song is really to boring. I appreciate his participation though

After the first listen, I would personally exclude Riga 2024...

Nevertheless, I'd be happy if Latvia goes either for Sudden Lights, Patrisha or as the last option Adriana. I'm especially disappointed by Justs' song and I would only accept Markus Riva if he promises that this will definitively be his last attempt.

4. Inspo
5. Patrisha
6. Sudden Lights
7. Adriana Miglane
8. Arturs Hatti
9. Saule
10. Toms Kalderauskis
11. Luize
12. 24. Avenija
13. Avéi
14. Markus Riva
15. Katrine Miller

Having listened to all the songs I have one thought about latvias qualification chances and to quote Johnny Logan what’s another year

Meme queen Alise Haijima is back with a banger (a banger like "Still Breathing" 2.0.) I pronounce her as my Supernova winner. xyaay

She didn't make it to a live show so you might not remember her, so here she is, showing her sass in 2020. xbow

My boi Raum toned down his inner MGK, but turned up a notch his inner The Kid Laroi. Cool. I like that too.

"Like I Wanna" has perfect structured verses, but if this song had a more intense chorus like "Tricky" has, it would be a very strong contender (at least for me :p) But it's "only" on 3rd place.

My top 5:
1-Alise Haijima "Tricky"
2-Raum "Fake Love"
3-Adriana Miglāne "Like I Wanna"
4-Inspo "Sway"
5-Markus Riva "Forever"

Well, unsurprisingly, Supernova is once again an ocean of meh. I only save Inspo (a bit like last year's ESCZ rock song from Skywalker) and Sudden Lights, maybe Luīze, Saule and Patrisha.
Justs is super-boring and Markus Riva confirms he's only a Wish version of Robin Bengtsson.
And, well, no song in Latvian like at all? Disappointing, even if not surprising.

I don't know what to say about this, this NF is sooo boring. Luize & Raum are the only good songs, Patrisha & Inspo could be growers maybe. Justs song is so disappointing, he has such strong voice, but this song is so boring, this song do nothing for him. In the end i think this will be the next year without Latvia in Final.

i'm a real latviamusiclover (estonia/lithuania too) but i can not handle the 15 songs really good - sudden lights is ok (not on the superb 2018 level) without the ugly drum&bass starting 10 seconds.
maybe live on stage then better?
sway has a nice hard guitar but the rest of the song?

where are groovy ethnosounds from latvia?
i have found for me the best fresh song from latvia so far - ok,not involved but i love it a lot - you too?
:12:xqueenbitch

p.s. last year the lady has had no luck being involved at supernova with her little ethno masterpiece vārdi.😭

This is really worse than Benidorm this year.

I need to listen to the songs in full, though.

I gave a few other listens to the songs and here are my thoughts :

- LUIZE's song is so beautiful, that chorus got me, goosebumps xcry
- I feel like Katrine is really singing about some events in her life and that she really feels her song, very emotional one
- JUSTS song is not as good as Heartbeat but still a good song, powerful voice, good chorus
- INSPO might be the best option for ESC, it's one of the two songs that gives me "can qualify but very borderline" vibes, and I quite like it, it's well done stuff, I just worry about it 'cause it's a 100% televote semi
- Tricky is very catchy and unpredictable, quite a good song
- Like I Wanna is also catchy but quite predictable, still like it
- Sudden Lights is quite okish imo but I can see why some people love it, it's solid stuff, I think it can be borderline Q in ESC but man I worry about their live
