You must download a program called scrobbler. Scroll down and find "Download Last.fm Scrobbler" option. All music you play on your computer will be noted on your account, what will enable it to advice you new music you would probably like basing on your plays. There are also many interesting user-made apps.

I'm missing its point

I guess it shows the relations between different musicians (that's at least how I understood the description, but that doesn't mean anything )
