1) AGNES - I NEED YOU NOW (Cahill Remix)
Originally an acoustic ballad, it was transformed for her British fans into a disco hit with plenty of strings. Still not completely satisfied with the results, Cahill, her British producers, turned it into an uplifting summer hit with swooping piano twinkles and thumping beats. It was so impressive, her Australian record decided against releasing the original remix and went for this instead - it was a pretty big radio/club hit during the summer/autumn. It's hard to believe this song was just a ballad when it first came out in 2008.
2) GATHANIA HOLMGREN - BLAME IT ON YOU
Another Swedish Idol, Gathania worked as a waitress in Stockholm before becoming a singer. Her 2nd single, Blame It On You is a classy breakup song about karma, and how after all the bad things her ex-boyfriend did to her, he's the one who will suffer in the end. It starts off like a ballad, with her singing over a nice enough piano tune, but then suddenly explodes into a dancy chorus, though still remains quite chilled. It's relatively simple, and it's not try hard which makes for a great listening!
3) CHANELLE HAYES - I WANT IT
Another remix, where the original was potentially bland. Former Big Brother UK contestant turned glamour model, Chanelle released her debut single a couple of years ago. It was a medium hit in Europe but after falling pregnant she has not been as active in the music industry. She isn't just a pretty(-ugly) face, though. (lol jk) She speaks fluent Spanish, plays the violin and did great at school. I guess her life went to waste then so vote for her and make her life worth living a little bit by representing Kostanovia
4) DARUSO - SINCE YOU BEEN GONE
Another dark dance song - but this time it is focusing on more happy things. Daruso fronted by singer Jess Russo features producers Jewels & Stone. How will it do in the NF? The song is about a man who left her lover, and that she wants him back. Regretting the loss she sings how she has no one to turn to and is lonely without his love. The video features how storming through the streets, and driving in a car singing down a megaphone, probably hoping her love will return. Interesting!
5) JODY - WIND IT
Jody is no stranger to representing Kostanovia. She was the NSC 43 entry with her song Kiss Of Life, but finished last in the final. In her defence, the song was crap, and to be fair, Wind It is much better. It starts off with a discoish intro, but then suddenly storms into a thumping verse, which builds up until the chorus begins where she tells the her love interest she knows he wants her. The song is basically about wanting to dance and let go - so it's hardly meaningful, so fortunately it is backed up by an amazing instrumental.
