Welcome to the final of Muzikabattalja!!! 16 songs have fought to make the prestigious finale, and only 6 have made it this far. Let's take a look at the songs:

2Amalie.png

Amalie Josephine Szigethy is a Danish singer who rose to fame in 2010 after starring in the Danish version of Paradise Hotel. She faced much controversy last year after her behaviour towards other contestants and stupid remarks. She called someone a ‘Russian roulette’ because of her fake her and boobs; unbeknownst to her, the term is actually a game of chance involving a gun. Last year she released her debut single Du og Jeg (meaning You and I in English) is an electronic Danish-language song with a poppy uplifting chorus also incorporates some darker basslines to bring a sensational, ear-friendly mix which was a moderate hit in Denmark.

2Tasha.png

Tasha Baxter, a South African singer specialising in drum n bass is regarded as one of South Africa's greatest musicians. After spending many years working behind the scenes, song writing and producing, she finally stepped out on her own and released her stunning debut album 'Colour of Me'. The first single from the album, ‘Who's Sorry Now’, starts with a soft, mellow piano tune which jumps into a compelling verse with a puzzled Tasha singing of how she wants her lover back despite his evil ways. Then the soft, placid chorus begins slowly building exploding into the hard-hitting, Tasha informing him that what they have isn’t real.

7Elin.png

Elin Lanto isn’t unfamiliar to the national final process, participating in Melodifestivalen twice. The striking, attractive Swede sings about dancing on some poor guy’s Funeral – as if dying isn’t enough? The production’s relation to the lyrics is strange; if you listened to the instrumental you’d picture a merry, cheerful bimbo singing about flowers, true love and puppies. However, the lyrics tell us, “Damn, this psycho bitch is not to be messed with!!” as she sings about fearlessly, without remorse that she’d gladly dance on his grave.

Girls Can’t Catch is an English girl group consisting of Phoebe Brown, Daizy Agnew and Jess Stickley. They are best known for their singles Echo, and debut single Keep Your Head Up. This song was actually confirmed by Kostanovia way back in the 40s but was cancelled due to the UK entering it into the same edition of FSC. The song is a catchy electropop tune about keeping your head up and carrying on with what is right despite the hardships you face, especially in relationships.

3Anna.png

Anna Abreu’s new song took a while to click me, but now I’m obsessed with it. It isn’t the most energetic of pop songs, it isn’t exactly memorable, and there is no clear catchy hook... but somehow it manages to get under your skin. I’m not in any way saying it’s bad – it’s actually amazing – but you just need to give it some time to sink in before you realise how fantastic it is. I don’t actually know why I like it, but there is something about it which makes it one of my favourite songs at the moment.

And finally, Jessie J. This is another song I hated at first, but I love her, and this song! The lyrics are kinda naughty and controversial but it’s all fantastic. It’s a pop song with urban elements actually which tends to be less popular in NSC, but this flew straight into the final without difficulty so there must be SOMETHING that people love about it beyond its wannabe ghetto mood. Anyway here it is...

And the first scoreboard comes from CALYPSO!

Tasha Baxter taking an early lead closely followed by Amalie, but really, it's too early to determine who will win. Both Amalie and Tasha made it through the 2nd chance round.

Pigeon Island push Anna off 0 in a big way, picking up 10 points and jumping into 2nd place from last. Tasha gets 7 points extending her lead but still anything can happen!

Canedonia's 12 to Anna sends her flying up, however more big points for Tasha keep her in the lead

Jessie J comes outta nowhere and back into the game with Llama Republic's 12. At the moment it seems like Tasha Baxter will win, but the semi results imply that we could see Elin Lanto representing Kostanovia, who is sitting in 2nd place currently

 Tie for first. Elin Lanto, as personally expected, and shocker Tasha who finished 4th in Semi 2. Also Girls Can't Catch, semi 2 winners coming up, just a few points behind!
