I couldn't follow Sanremo yesterday, but my question is: it seems like M&B are still the favorites. Is there a chance at all that someone else wins, if so who is still in the run?
It is difficult to understand who can win this year. It is true that M&B are favorites (by the jury, by televoting, by the Spotify position and YT views) but Irama (in a greater way, for me) and Elisa (in a lesser way, for me) could be tough opponents to beat. Gianni Morandi, who is doing a good course in Sanremo, could actually be the "bearing singer" in the final at 3. We could also see surprises, LRDL is enjoying great love from Italian fans while Fabrizio Moro will have to settle for a more than just one Top 10. The rest will never have any chance of making it to the final (they will play to reach a good position in the ranking).
To think that Sanremo "does not win the one for bookmakers", that "It will allow the victory of a different singer" or "It will reward the career of a particular singer" is wrong. Sanremo has always accustomed us to Machiavellian strategies but not up to this point. If it has been chosen that a singer must win it does not matter if this singer has already won Sanremo or something else, this singer will win regardless of everything.
Regarding the singers competing there are many who could deserve the stage of the ESC but ... this is only possible in a parallel world where we do not call ourselves "Italy". Our choices must not be good but studied with obsessive attention because the jury is always ready to hit us
We have to find the right sound to connect with the majority of the European public. Our strength is only televoting (which according to some users of the forum last year is not democratic and has been plagiarized by the Betting Odds that always see us high
). Often, however, all this is not enough: Jamala conquered everyone with a song about deportation
while Moro & Meta, with a social song and well received by the public, were destroyed by the jury
If Salvador Sobral were he had been called Salvatore Sobrali
he would have been relegated to 23rd position
(while I saw smiles full of foaming at the mouth in that edition where he won Portugal
). I could give many other examples
On M&B, I repeat, they may like it or not, but with them Italy would bring a new sound, a new message, something never brought to the ESC
Have you ever seen a duo at the ESC singing a song with a poignant text on stage in an urban atmosphere?
This song, unlike the homophobia that some users have accused us of
(bringing photos of rainbow flags and photos in their messages to show us that their countries are at the forefront of accepting free love
), tells of the latest gasps a love over and of which the gender of the protagonists is never specified. And indeed, some users this year (you can see in past posts), have been wondering if Mahmood was gay
If this message had brought him to another country, I am sure he would have become an LGBT
anthem and many garments would have been torn up in the throes of strong emotion
I conclude that, although last night on the cover they were bad
, Mahmood & Blanco have a unique synergy on the stage, two unique voices (especially Mahmood) that perfectly marry and are perfectly inserted in the construction of the song
I don't think they can or should win the ESC 2022 (it is possible that some other nation will bring better representatives
) but that they can go a long way. Now I speak in general, definitely not with you Mauve who have always been an educated and rational Eurofans
, I do not understand this great fear that hovers around Italian music every year
(especially this year where our chance of not winning is high
) . For us Italians an honest Top 10 would be enough (M&B might deserve it
) even if, for some, this eventuality hurts a lot because it would always place us at the top of the quality standard of the European song
I'm waiting for the end of Sanremo 2022 and, as expected every year, the destructive locusts will come into action
Someone has already considered "Brividi" an overhype
