I was honestly so shocked they ranked so low last night, they gave such a great performance! Is it that this is considered more like, "old fashioned"?



The irony for me here is that, Ermal stated in an interview that he's not looking to win, and yet he's now a favorite to win.



This reminds me a lot of Gabbani, (in that there's a lot of wordplay that might go over people's heads) so I get why the Italian audience might be more cautious with choosing this.

No, but in all seriousness, I wouldn't have issue with Irama winning.

Extraliscio feat Davide Toffolo gave us a great performance. But the problem with music festivals is that someone has to be high up and someone low. That said, groups like this in Italy are considered "alternative".

As for Ermal Meta, the favorite often gets nothing. Remember "Occidentali's Karma" and "Soldi" at the ESC? It is better to stay in the group of the best and then take the victory later. Festivals are marathons. Only the song that will remain etched or that will mature in the hearts of the listeners will be the winner. If we look at the ranking, apart from the Maneskin hit hard by the opinion poll, all the best are in the "Top 10". Ermal Meta and Annalisa are the mark to be overcome. I'm sorry for Ermal Meta but he will surely win one of the critics' awards. Let's not forget that he has already represented Italy at the ESC together with Moro. If I know my country, we will aim for a new face.

As I read today in one of Willie Peyote's fan groups, "He's going to lose with his head held high." What did you like about this song? The sound is captivating, the rap is very good but ... the text is a real dissing to our politics, to the falsity of the people, to artists like Bugo, Morgan and Achille Lauro and to the paradoxical situation of Covid that saw the stadiums open and theaters closed. The opinion poll jury is smart. Criticizing Orietta Berti was important! If they had rewarded it too much everyone would have said "The usual old and false Sanremo ...". Remember Barefoot, too much light always generates big shadows.

I agree with you. Irama was amazing. Who thought he could bring such a song to Sanremo?!

We are objective, I love the songs of Meta, F&M and Fasma and ... also of Willie, however I think what we need is Irama or Maneskin. I strongly believe that the first will win. Who will win for you?

You have a point there, and as we've seen, nothing is necessarily set in stone and we still have until Saturday to see what changes may come in ranking.

It was interesting to see him just express his frustrations (as a musician, naturally, he's going to take issue with stadiums getting seemingly preferential treatment to artists). But, again, it makes me wonder how he would've been received had an audience been present. Would he have been booed? Jeered?

Personally? Probably Fasma. But I honestly don't know in general, it really is a tight race at the top.

And thanks for the music! Willie's video was country blocked but I was able to find somewhere else that had the song uploaded. Really enjoyed them both, I'll look up the lyrics later tonight!

Did you know that Modugno's "Meraviglioso" was discarded from the Sanremo Festival because Tenco's suicide had occurred the year before? According to the commission, Modugno's text spoke of "suicide" and it was in bad taste to present it after the tragic event of Tenco's suicide.
