I wouldn't count your chickens yet lol

The EBU only care about money (it showed this year) so they'd rather not have Israel over several countries who refuse to participate, losing more money.

Still waiting for Martin's resignation too... he can't carry on after this year's shit show, surely?

Well well well… Portugal & Switzerland DENIED that they wanted to withdraw!

And this is why I can’t take anyone of you seriously. You all BELIEVED it without a doubt. You see now how easily you are fooled??? And I can assure you that most of the accusations about Israel are totally UNTRUE. And I also told you you will be so embarrassed when the truth is out.
So easy to spread anti-Israel hate when it fits the narrative. You just blindly believe what you want to believe.
There are more news to come which will be very embarrassing for those hating on Israel. You will wish you never did.
I'd be very careful to not confuse sharing a news article in the name of general interest with spreading anti-Israel sentiment. They are not above media criticism.

A Slovene member of the EU parliament is planning to debate Israeli participation in the EU parliament and will also have a meeting with the EBU himself. He said:

"In the months leading up to Eurovision 2025, I will call for a debate at the level of the European Parliament on the responsibility of the EBU"
"My disappointment with the EBU and its decision is great. I gave the representatives of the EBU so clearly my expectations and, I believe, the expectations of millions of Europeans. It is completely unacceptable for Eurovision to turn into political propaganda of those who deny the fundamentals of civilization postulates and remain silent in the face of a gross violation of international law," stated the MEP. "Therefore, in the months before Eurovision 2025, I will call for a debate at the level of the European Parliament on the EBU's responsibility in making political decisions that conflict with fundamental values of the EU."

"With its latest decisions, the EBU has not only violated the exceptional tradition of Eurovision, but it is a legitimate act that the EU should have shown them a red card a long time ago, but it did not do so, with red exceptions," he concluded.

^Cry me a river with the baseless virtue signalling.

:il: will once again use HaKokhav HaBa or Next Star in English as the method to select their entrant for Eurovision 2025.

I don’t think you can call it baseless if they’ve attached a genuine news source to their statement as evidence.

It’ll be interesting to say the least to see how KAN behaves in 2025, especially with the events of 2024.

I don't want countries banned for their actions outside Eurovision, but if it's a principle and done to Russia, Israel should be banned too.

If not they should withdraw themselves. Even just in regard for the safety of the event, and consideration to the participants and crowds.

https://www.ebu.ch/news/2024/11/ebu...-broadcaster-budget-out-of-government-control

“We are deeply concerned about the proposed legislation from the Israeli government that would allow them to change or cancel items in the public broadcaster’s budget, putting at risk the editorial and financial independence of public media,” said Noel Curran, Director General of the EBU.
“This development could be interpreted as an attempt by the Israeli government to exert greater direct control over KAN.”

Next year they will kinda defend their choice. 2026 entry will be selected by Netanyahu. lukashenko-style, do it in Bibi's bed directly xgiggle

I'm against banning Israel from Eurovision completely, I'm in favour of suspending their participation for now. That could be the solution, but won't be the solution so wait 'til the next Eurovision drama unfolds because common sense has left Europe a long time ago, so yeah...

I think eventually Israel will not participate - whether that’s this year, next year or in 10 years is anybody’s guess; as is whether they withdraw or are banned.

I will be interested to know if they choose to partake in events outside of the shows themselves going forward though, as last year they didn’t do any pre-parties or much press at all.

The Council of RTVSLO has just decided the following:

The management of RTV Slovenia should immediately initiate a request within the framework of the EBU that Israel not perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. The RTV Council and the public should be kept informed of the efforts.

They were also thinking about withdrawing in case of Israel's participation.

In both with Ukraine 2022 and Israel 2024, we saw that countries currently engaged in war should not participate in Eurovision as it is incredibly difficult to evaluate their entries neutrally and independently from the conflict. Eurovision is supposed to be a celebration of music and culture, but in the context of an ongoing war, it is impossible to remove the political realities from the voting behavior.

The final of HaKokhav HaBa will take place on 21 January, 2025.
Israel will only determine/decide on the winner/entrant.

Their entry will be internally chosen and probably released in March (like last year).

I’m not a fan of this method of selection, never have been. Just compete with a song so then at least the voting public know it’s a good song as well as artist
