Israeli news website Ynet.co.il reports today that the EBU has accepted IBA's request to be directly allocated to participate in the second semifinal of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Germany.
The first semifinal is scheduled to be held on May 10th 2011, the exact same day when Israel will commemorate a national memorial day. If Israel was to be named to perform on this day, IBA would have had no other choice but to withdraw from the contest, like it did in 1980 and 1984.
Now that this matter is solved, IBA is expected to chose the performer to represnt Israel by the end of 2010.
