Most ESC-fans hated Suus but the rest of Europe liked it - what does that tell about ESC-fans? ;)

I'm probably completely wrong about this but I don't think it's that dark of a song. The most important line in the song I think is "It'll be alright". I think this shows that the whole song is not depressing gush like "Birds" was last year. The song shows hope and that despite hard times, things will turn out right in the end. While this moral is not true, when **** happens often it isn't ever cleared up, but it does show stuff can be fine after bad times. This one line takes all the depressing stuff (She cries, cries, cries) and throws it out, replacing it with hope and a good will to the song.

Anyway, this is just me looking into something way to deeply than I should.

That they forcefeed on schlager and are too stubborn to give other things a try, this is fact.

Gosh, I actually remember the hatred for "Suus" around the time of it's win. It was unreal. That's why I actually joined this forum as I saw literally every single person laying into Rona and the song. I wanted to speak up for her and argue why her song was so special and extraordinary to me. It was a hard few months but everything paid off in the end:rolleyes:

I love me a bit of schlagger (in fact it's why I follow Eurovision) but can still appreciate a bloody good sincere, dark song. Horar for bipolar music moodsxyes

Scuse me! Prime Eurofan here - adore Alcazar, as do you. So yeah - case shot down :p

Suus for me had zero melodic appeal. I need a song to either speak to me lyrically or musically, and since i couldn't understand the lyrics it had to be all about the music. And for me, it was just an ugly mess. And the performance, rather than pained and emotional, seemed possessed and desperate.

Someone put her out of her misery... it's the kindest thing to do...

Well, I must say that the theme of the song makes me a little uncomfortable, but i don’t think Hungary should have any problems qualifying since the entry is generally strong enough.

It had zero melodic appeal to YOUxgaah

I literally lived and breathed the song for the months leading up to Eurovision. The unusual piano chords would not leave my mind. I swear to god, the opening bars of "Suus" will stay with me for life.

Sometimes I just want a pure, delicious piece of pop perfection like Alcazar has given us this year but I can also go very deep into music. I'm actually guessing you'd despise half the music I listen to outside of ESC:lol: You call Suus an ugly mess, I call it raw and brutally honest.. and that appeals to me. I can understand the things you want from music and those things I certainly want in my pop as well. I think we probably share a pretty similar taste in pop songs. I just have two sides to me... and the dark, emotional side of me loves and respects Rona's "Suus" more than anything else in the world. It makes me sad to see people that don't feel what Rona puts across but I totally understand those that are alienated by it.

hahahha yes that was the reason she did well, keep on dreaming! ahahahah :lol: :lol;

And not the fact Kosovar diaspora is so big and so hungry to see Kosovo participating at ESC!!

And she is from Prshtina!

So no, that you wrote was the reason of her success! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLxrofl3xrofl3xrofl3xrofl3

I like your dreamer side of personality very much.. :) But sometimes it must touch a reality a bit I'm afraid..

Music is polarising - that's what is so special about it, and why we have such a diverse and varied selection of styles in existence today.

Despite my love for amazing pure power-pop, I also have a very sensitive and emotional side. I have connected with a number of songs on a deeply emotional level and they have helped me through my darkest days. I am not having a go at you for finding that same connection in Suus, I merely just didn't get that same effect from the song, and funnily enough I now more often seem to find only people with undying praise for Suus which astounds me in all honesty.

But yeah, different horses for different courses - you'd be surprised at the playlists I have on my computer and phone. Everything from Alcazar to Avenged Sevenfold to Patti Labelle and even a little bit of Gabriel Faure (Pavane is a glorious piece of music - gives me goosebumps everytime xlove)

But time to get back to Hungary - the song deals with a difficult topic very subtly without trivialising, and for that I believe it should be commended. xclap

Ummm excuse me, I didn't say that me sticking up for her is why she did well. I was stressing how the months of believing in her, I was right to do so. Rona could succeed despite the overwhelming hatred towards her and her song. I had faith that her song would touch hearts and that I wasn't the only one who felt something from it.. and in the end she did reach out. You seem to think it was all diaspora but Rona was certainly no Mona Mihaela Trifu. Amongst all the hatred you could also find the most passionate comments from people who were touched by Rona's song and those messages you just wouldn't get for any old song. They were deep.

Anyway gosh, let's stop talking about her now as she doesn't really have any relation to the Hungarian entry this year:lol:

Because a diaspora of a tiny region like Kosovo could solely vote her into the Top 5 of Eurovision. Yes, that's definitely it...

Well not only that, but it helped A LOT, just look which countries voted her and which have Kosovar diaspora..and Kosovar diaspora is HUGE actually! ;)

for example without diaspora she will receive 5 from Italy and not 10 (example)..and count that in many countries and you will see she diaspora helped her for 5th place a lot..and things here are very fresh about Kosovo and Serbia so I can definitely see diaspora supporting her a lot, you pl don't kknow how some things here work, you live in developed countries without such things.. ;)

So @ Brits if you want very good results with televoting, force BBC to pick Rita Ora and film her video in Prishtina.. ;) :D

I know you weren't having a goxrunhug

It's just anytime someone mentions anything negative about "Suus" I feel it my duty to defend the song with all my lifexgaahxwedgie

Music is indeed polarising and we each have our own special things we look for, or needs that our songs must fulfil. Our minds are all built differently. My mind is chaotic and somewhat messed up which is probably why I could stomach "Suus" and find such beauty and relief from it.

And yes back on topic.. about Hungary this year.... err I don't really know what to say. The drum and bass is alright. I still don't like the lyrics though despite learning that he wrote them himself about a friends experience. It just doesn't all gel together for me.

I haven't taken a liking to this year's entries tbh but this song is the best by far so my first 12 points go to Hungary! x12s

The problem is that if someone doesn't like a song, they'll find all sorts of things wrong with it...lol

I actually like the song, I even started this conversation by saying that. I liked it so that I sort of started paying more atention to the lyrics until I grew unseasy. It's not really the song, or liking or disliking we're talking about. Sorry, but I believe you're missing most points here xshrug

Yeah the same here. My initial reaction last night was quite positive but after paying close attention to the lyrics, it's going to be hard to enjoy the song how I first envisioned enjoying it. The songs story is there and right in your face.
