Well i still prefer Elethreia than Demy. However its true that Demy has more succesful carrer but i don't think that makes her better. She may has better promotion or better connections into music industry.

I'm sorry i just can't agree on that. Demy is the much much better pop artist imo. I guess we have very very very different tastes in music. xshrug

Am I the only one who wants Marina Satti to represent us? I mean she is a pretty credible artist to say the least and she has given us some great songs that are not actually what you would typically hear in your radio. So congrats for the originality too. The only problem is that we haven't heard much from her in the last 2 years since "Mantissa" was released.

so much pessimism around here from people who clearly just want greece to send gorgeous women dancing generic bangers while the backing singer does all the work (i love eleftheria lol but not every year). greece has had hits and misses both from the MADTV NF and from internal selections, is clearly on the right track when it comes to finding songs, and have already shown improvement in staging from last year to this year. my worry is always that greece might feel like "but we are SUPPOSED to be good at this!" and throw it out and try out some stupid demy shit again. demy's song sucked and was not even 10% of a Classic Greek Banger. if they don't find a good banger, just keep on improving this yianna/katerine branding. it has potential. maybe they should try their hand at a cute guy next year. #theduncaneffect

Next year i want a ethnic bop like we sent in the 00s, or a song written by Foreign songwritters like Milanov, G:son, even Ylva & Lida etc or something funny like :gr: 2013.
If we do a National Final next year, let it be a open Selection because those MAD NFs were pretty mediocre songwise and with small variety. Especially in 2015 which almost all the songs were ethnic and Maria Elena was the ONLY singer who sung well in that NF.
In fact the streak of the bad results was started when Mad was involved and 2013 was just a fluke. I still remember the horrors from Thomai Apergi & Kostas Martakis xpuke
If ERT works with MAD again in 2020 3 things are sure, we will get 4-5 Utopian Lands & This is Loves, the line-up will be full of annoying singers like Thomai Apergi, Kostas Martakis, Sin Boy, Nasos & Alcatrash and we will flop miserably as usual.
If we send a established singer, let it be Elena Tsagkrinou, Vangelis Kakouriotis, Melisses/Mastoras solo, Nikos Ganos or Melina Makri. Or Ian Stratis from X-factor.
Marina Satti would be a great choice too but she already said she's not interested and such songs aren't really working at ESC anymore. She might do a :hu: 2017 but at the same time she might do a :pt: 2019 resultwise. Plus both of our NQs were with ethnic songs in Greek and i don't want a 3rd NQ with Marina Satti as much as i enjoy Mantissa.

In the end I have the feeling that Shaya will represent either :gr: or :cy: next year.
I hope not because as much as i love her songs her vocals are tragic.

why would someone willingly wish a milanov or g:son hand me down for their own country?

I agree with you. I hope ERT just continues with what they have been doing with recent attempts instead of going back to "I guess we should send a known pop star with a generic song". (Same reason why i was happy we avoided Tamta this year and went with Katerine).

maybe they should try their hand at a cute guy next year. #theduncaneffect

The issue with this is that there really aren't many guys making music in the alternative/indie scene currently at least that i know off. And i consider myself pretty knowledgeable on what goes on in the music scene here.

But on that note. Many Eurovision fans have been saying that they want the group Melisses for the longest time. Which are pretty darn mainstream. But i think they would fall under your category.

Then there are the likes of Leon of Athens, Katerine Duska's boyfriend who also co wrote "Better Love".

But i doubt he would want to compete after Katerine went and i doubt they would go for him right after Katerine. It would just be weird :p

The group RadioAct i actually wouldn't be too opposed to, although they have an early 2010s sound which many of the new kids might not appreciate (but it's a sound i personally like, and miss in music)

Then there are others like The Boy, who is just weird.

Moa Bones

Dramamini

Now if they really wanted to be brave they could consider the group LARGO (Folk/Rock group)

And like, this is were it ends for male artists. Then we go to all the maistream male artists who i doubt would want to be in Eurovision or those who mainly sing a specific genre of music (which Greece has only attempted once with Loucas Yiorkas.)

Well ,unless ERT decides to take a dip in the Rap scene were they definitely could find many artists, but i doubt that's gonna happen. Even though i would like them too.

I like Satti , but majority of her work has been re imagining covers of older songs. So i'm not too confident in her song writing skills, which would mean someone else would have to write her song and those things often don't turn out so well.

I think she is good in the lane she has.

Marina Satti has already denied to go to Eurovision in the past and anyway her style is not what juries want to see.

I think Satti has a very intriguing style, juries might actually like it. Btw she said on her IG stories that new songs are coming soon.

Anyway, if :gr: wants to send another western-sounding song, i think they should go with Ian Stratis. His new single is coming out soon and it will be written by "Sillyboy's Ghost Relatives" -another interesting case in the Greek music scene.

From the artists Panos posted above, i like Largo, Moa Bones and Leon ofc.. I adore The Boy, but he would be too alternative for ESC.

No, just not this. I like their songs, but I absolutely wish for ERT NOT to do this for Greece.

Yeah I guess so. But it would be nice to see her. I mean she could create a Blanche-like song and if it had a nice stage presence it could place well with the televote and moderately well with the juries.

I have also heard that Leea Nanos wants to represent Greece in 2020. She has an interesting voice but I didn't like the song she went for in Australia Decides. Too generic and bland.

Ian Stratis would be a good choice.

I'm sorry but i am not seeing how Marina's sound is at all similar to City Lights :p

Yeah i agree about her Australian entry. I wouldn't be totally opposed to her if she had a good song tho.

Ian Stratis would be a good choice.

i think they should go with Ian Stratis.

I mean he is not bad but that's all i can say about him. I mean his one song i've heard is "Amazing" (as in the song title :p )

which is not bad but i could also see him going with a very bad song as well if you know what i'm saying. As he hasn't really shown me much as an artist to be able to say. His voice is good.

"Sillyboy's Ghost Relatives" -another interesting case in the Greek music scene.

I've never heard of them. Thanks for putting me on.

Yep, i agree. I'm actually hoping they continue the trend of having a singer songwritter with their own song.

Yeah....now that I think about it they aren't that similar after all. I meant that they are both not what you would normally hear and they have kind of the same beat (I might be wrong I'm really bad at comparing songs :p)

I think that Marina Satti is closer to Conan Osiris than Blanche! :p
