I don't know if the hype around this entry is real, because Germans love to love themselves a lot, and I am still struggling to see a fan favourite emerging. For my personal taste, lyrics such as "So happy we could die" sound very derivative. I know I have heard this line before and I for one wouldn't sing such a line at all. Similar to rain and pain, love from above, high to the sky....

Also, the German accent is way too heavy on this song. You can tell at first listen, this is a Prussian dude singing.

For Germany, these are 3 huge steps forward into the right direction, however it was not my NF favourite, it's a bit too in-your-face, gay, grotesque, but there is a televoting potential for sure for it. 5 points.

If you‘re talking about Eurovision only: definitely not :ROFLMAO:

and I am still struggling to see a fan favourite emerging.
It’s not a fan favourite but LOTL has a certain fan base around the globe for years. The forums/fan groups might not be their biggest fans but even William from wiwi loved it and he‘s not particularly known as a metal fan.

Yeah, the lyrics are meh.

True. But it’s typical for the German gothic metal scene. All bands sound as if they are singing with a big accent. It’s some trait, something recognizably German, so in terms of Eurovision, it’s „typically German“ - our culture - therefore tolerated.

but there is a televoting potential for sure for it.

It sure is, but I‘m not certain in which direction it can go. Especially if Australia also happens to be in the final, and they will, so people will split their votes between them.

I‘m excited at least, no matter which way it will go.

Australia is too generic compared to Germany, I wouldn't worry about them. Maybe jury bait, but the rock lovers won't fall for it.

Played LOTL to one of my friends I saw today who's a metal head - hates it. Thinks it's 'crap and boring'. Funnily enough, she said "why didn't Germany just send Electric Callboy?" - she's not a eurofan and has no idea about the controversy last year either :ROFLMAO:

If I am not wrong, LOTL will be at the preparty in Amsterdam. :)
They will be, but it´s the only one they will be doing because of the band´s schedule as Alex Wolfslast confirmed in Munich yesterday

Yes, as far as I remember they have concerts in Mexico, in Bueno Aires and a few more in April. Hope they stay safe and don't get sick!

NGL if we could have Electric Callboy I‘d trade them any time, even for LOTL. Too bad they don’t want to apply again for Eurovision but I get why. The momentum is gone. They have an insane career now, what else can they wish for.

And yes, "real" metal heads will probably think LOTL is too soft or pop (even I myself thought it when I first listened to it although I really liked it right from the start). But since the band needs to grab the attention of all kinds auf audience I see why they did that and that’s ok.

I am probably in the minority, but I like LOTL more than EC. So I wouldn't like to trade LOTL for EC. I am happy the way it is! LOTL all the way!!! xheartxheartxheart

I prefer Lord Of The Lost to EC as well - by miles...

I would have enjoyed EC as our entrant last year, though - I just prefer Chris´s voice and vocals and the style of LOTL - "Blood & Glitter" might be "more pop" than their recent material but overall, I prefer their dark(er) sound. EC might be heavier but LOTL have a darker, more gothic sound (at parts) and as a Symphonic(/Power/Folk) Metal fan (@HarryUK your friend would probably call it "boring and crap" what I usually listen to as well), I will prefer their sound.

EC are not dark or mysterious at all. They are heavier at parts - but also even "pop-ier" since they can be very melodic as well. Their choruses are basically bubblegum pop. And they are way more electronic and metalcore.

EC and LOTL aren´t bands of the same genre.
It´s like comparing a K-Pop artist with Ariana Grande.

Agree on everything you said. Yes, last year I would have been more than happy to have EC. But it is exactly as you say: Their choruses are mostly "bubblegum pop" indeed. I listened to many songs of EC, but not a single song kept me as excited as songs by LOTL such as "Loreley", "Leaving the planer earth" ect. I am over the moon that I encountered this band - yes, ironically thanks to NDR! Long live "boring and crap"! :ROFLMAO:

Well, I love both bands almost the same, yet I would love to have one big Electric Callboy Party on the Eurovision stage. But I don’t cry because it won’t happen. LOTL is (more than) fine too!

I am a fan of both bands for years, LOTL even longer than EC because Metalcore is actually NOT my preferred kind of Metal music. I wasn’t really much into EC's (very) old stuff, but their last albums, even the last ones with "Sushi", were awesome! I love the energy of EC, that’s probably why people love Käärija this year too. Would have been awesome on stage but LOTL will have a great show too, I‘m sure!

Power Metal and Goth Metal are actually my favourite style of Metal and LOTL have been my fav German Metal band right after Eisbrecher; I also love Mono Inc (which are very similar to LOTL - so if anyone needs recommendations).

So, it’s nothing against LOTL and I‘m so happy they get to represent us this year!
I’ve been reading so many positive comments about them on Social Media almost every day so it’s a good sign. Even if all of these people don’t vote for them in the end, it’s nice that people have a decent impression of Germany at Eurovision right now.
