Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011

I'm not too familiar with the current German music scene, but I guess something like Monrose wouldn't be bad if they don't end up like No Angels did. But if they would actually consider Cascada, then they might as well send a real electronic music artist, not an eurodance-wannabe cover band. And we even got a typical new house track this year already with Moldova. Anyway, if the Unser Star show is considered successful, then I agree that they probably continue with it.

I was pretty disappointed with the No Angels song because I think they actually had some pretty good songs in the past (well for a casting show pop band) and the producer, Remee, is one of my favorite pop music producers because of his past work, so they could definitely have had a better song and performance.

Were they?... I sorta liked the song at first (not one of my top faves) but after the performance I seem to have lost that feeling. It was so funny when they got 12 from us. Let's not forget to mention the good neighbours Switzerland who gave an additional 2. ;) The other thing which makes me laugh was my prediction that came true. I told my dad that Germany will be 23rd at best. They did finish exactly 23rd.

I first saw the song on Viva and I had no idea that they were going to participate in ESC with it, I just thought it was a new single and dismissed it as an ordinary boring ballad-like song that's a typical follow-up after an upbeat single, LOL. But then again their better songs were in like 2001-2002 in my opinion anyway and I didn't like even those as much as the typical music I listen to.

And wasn't one of the members from Bulgaria?

Well, if they want to take part, then why not.

I really like the concept of USFO as it was this year. The singers could choose their song freely and bring their own compositions. And the ones, which were chosen were great. Jennifer Braun at the after-show-party with her single:

I think she would also have done quite well.
And I heard that Christian Durstewitz does the warm-up on some concerts now.
I hope they won't change the show too much.

I was wondering how they get well-known artists like Xavier Naidoo and Nena to perform at an Eurovision pre-show/afterparty, but not at an actual ESC?

The city hasn't been chosen, according to German Wikipedia the most possible cities are Hamburg (NDR is based there), Berlin, Cologne and Hanover

I think its most likely that it will be in Berlin in O²World Arena. There also the European MTV Music Awards took place. 17.000 seats, 60.000 m².

There is also the possibility to set a stage in front of Brandenburger Tor.

I think it would be a great location.

Germany already has a "new" artist for next year. It will be Lena! =)

She is going to try to defend her title.

It was just announced @ ARD in a welcome show for Lena by Stefan Raab!

So no Unser Star für XXX next year ;)
