What a big let-down... Yes - Kaliopi is a great singer, I love her voice - and whe will sure lift this song.
But the song itself? Dona, dona, dona, dona.... dona, dona dona, dona, dona...
I really should love this; A great voice of the kind I prefer; a bit harsh and rough at the edge, a ballad, non-english... But even though I can see this is a quality product, not a thing is felt in my heart. My top 10 remains unchanged, unfortunately.
The song is not as good as I expected, but omg this woman's voice! She can sing yankee-doodle and I will probably still get goosebumps.
Even with a song that I would otherwise loathe, Kaliopi gets my total approval.
I prefer this to "Crno i belo" actually...lyrics of this entry are fantastic to me..and i feel such a melancholy..the one you can't recognize evidently, that is actually the best type of melancholy to me..the one which hides behind her beautiful smile..
"Dona"is FABULOUS!!
The color and flavor of her vocal is simply magical.. it takes me back to some past times..the way she is walking in the beginning of the video kills me..
So, I am at work now... I missed the whole song cause the freaking show was toooooooo bloody looooooong...
I've just listened to the youtube clip and the song is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! 111
But I have to hear her live first... so I will not vote yet.
Positive things: it's beautiful, it's nostalgic, is it old-fashioned? Yes, but then, even the song from Poland is old-fashioned and it kinda sucks imo. This gives goosebumps instead. Simple and beautifully sung. With a little more awkward arrangement in Stockholm she will slay us all.
Negative things: none. I can't see them now.
You're right: Hail to the queen!
p.s. it's not going to win, but it's going to give us some pleasure
