Time for our monthly FSC news bulletin!

For the first time we won't begin with Andrea (June 09). Deep Zone from May 09 tried to reenter ESC! However this time not for Bulgaria, but for Cyprus! Their song Play was selected for their final, but then was disqualified, because the artists had released the original version on the internet for the bulgarian audience. The goal was for the bulgarian audience to decide which of the 7 new songs Deep Zone had produced for their new album "Dance Energy" should get a video. The album hasn't been released yet and Deep Zone are working hard to delete any leaked note from it from youtube and vbox7, but they've just released a teaser from the video of the selected song - Let Me Rise Again

Let's go back to Andrea. As we told you last month she recorded a song with Costi, Shaggy and Bob Sinclair - I Wanna, but we're still awaiting the video. Not a masterpiece and definitely not such a hit like her chalga songs, but worth mentioning because of the rang of the world stars Sahara teamed up with and because romanians seem to like it. She's up here though because of her 2 new songs without videos - one specifically chalga song, named Promenqm te (I change you) and one with romanian sound, helped by Costi of course and with a surprise helping from Azis as a backvocalist - Dokosvai me (Touch Me).

Another international project comes from Desislava (I'm reporting it a little late btw), who recorded a song with the greek singer Kostas Martakis - Agapi mou. The song will find place in both singers' next albums. It was originally intended to compete in the bulgarian ESC selection, but the new rules, where the TV chooses the singer and then writes songs for him, prevented their intentions. The two know each other from the MAD VMA concert in 2008, where they sang Duffy's Mercy together and achieved an enjoyable chemistry on stage.

Our FSC winner Slavi Trifonov from August has finally finished his reality show "Be a pop-folk star" (pop-folk = chalga). I haven't seen a single episode from it, so I can't really say much about it, but I have to fill this report with something in this poor FSC related news month.

To make this report a little less scarse Ustata and Sofi Marinova (September 09) announced that they are working on a new hit song. Nothing is known of the project yet however. In the gossip articles Sofi Marinova is fighting her ex-husband for the parental rights of her son. The father believes the child shouldn't witness all the affairs of his mother and should stay with him. However this is just gossip news and noone really cares enough to make a serious article about it, so we'll assume it as a fabrication :)

The best one person in Slavi's contest - Lyusi from Star Academy. :D That was thanks to the voters on the Internet, otherwise she would've been third.

Following Russia and Denmark's examples, I added a poll. Maybe ours is clear - the winning song, maybe it isn't. Actually I have a very hard time giving my vote to only one favourite, beacuse I totally adore our April, July, August, October and November! But in the end... April it is.

Voted! As you noticed, unfortunately I don't give a lot of points to Bulgaria, dunno why this happens.

Really nice entries - your first and second ones, between them i prefer second. Then...these entries maybe is too Bulgarian for me?

Surprisingly I ended up voting for Desislava and her two magnets, which is probably one of the few Bulgarian entries that didn't really seemed to stand out for me at the time. In fact I found it rather ordinary, but afterwards it started growing on me so much that I ended up loving it. Desislava gets my vote despite the fact that I've given points to pretty much all of the other Bulgarian entries except her. :)

Other Bulgarian entries worth giving credit (in my book) also includes entries such as Andrea and Costi, Slavi and Ruslana, and the experimental and unusual Bulgarian entry, Dessy Tenekedjieva - Noshtta, v koqto (I Wonder).

FSC MARCH 2010 BULGARIA

[youtube:z030ge36]-pAxoOyIfuc[/youtube:z030ge36]

FSC March 2010 sees Grafa (The Duke) peform for Bulgaria. His real name is Vladimir Ampov and he was born 1978. His musical debut was for BNT's show Musical Wonderthek in 1988 with the song "I've been on this world for 10 years", followed by the "hit" song "Tangerines". His career goes mostly under the protection of BNT, for which he sings in different shows and concerts. His first international award comes in 1995 from a festival in Croatia. His first very successful album was in 2003, which stood at the top of BG TOP 100 for 7 weeks. In 2005 his duo with Mariq Ilieva "Kradena liubov (Stolen love)" becomes a hit and marks a spot on the MTV World Chart Express, between Bon Jovi and Mariah Carry.
His song Ostavqsh sledi (You leave marks) is probably the most rhythmic he has ever done. His strength is in slow r&b songs, which made him popular. Actually, before Miro he was the most popular male pop singer in Bulgaria, he still is the favourite singer of the older generation, but the similar songs he kept doing decreased his popularity. Perhaps that's why he made Ostavqsh sledi and teamed up with Akaga to do something different. His latest song is his second with Akaga - Pesen za sybujdane (A Wake-up Song). Akaga aren't his only partners though, precisely an year ago he teamed up for the second time with famous pop singer (sharing the same decrese for the same reasons in her popularity) Mariq Ilieva and made a hit song - Chuvash li me (Do you hear me) (also shown on MTV's World Chart Express under 4th place). Its popularity also resulted in its parody - Mariq and Paragrafa - Chuvash li be (Do you f-king hear me)
Grafa has also attempted on ESC in 2009 when his song was beaten by Krassimir Avramov. The song Vrag (Enemy) although reaching 5th place in the final voting and being produced by BNT, disappointed many of his fans. He admitted himself, that BNT invited him to use a song from his upcoming album for ESC and he never cared if he would win or not - he just used the stage of ESC to promote his album/single.
In the beginning of the century Grafa had many songs like this ESC one, which I can't be bothered to search for and show you, but he was mostly famous for this one song - Seks za pari (Sex for Money).

Corrected your post, he finished in 5th behind Karassimir Avramov, Poli Genova, Mariana Popova (ESC 2006 - Bulgaria) and Nora (runner-up in Music Idol 2 - Bulgaria). His song was disappointing, not to mention the actual performance but I really like this one, probably the first ever song of Grafa, so decided to send it. ;)

I think this article was THE MOST difficult one for me to write, since he's my LEAST favourite performer, that we've ever sent :) It was a true torture listening to songs to put in here! Even the best ones, that I put, are less than mediocre...

But good luck to Grafa in FSC ;)

I predict bottom 5, he's like Bojan's songs.

Might as well have used this song for May, had I not found it would be a bit too old. Decided to share it with you. Most of the videos are from the previous month but I've found a live perfomance of it from July 2009:

The girl took part in the first and only Bulgarian edition of Star Academy, where she ended 3rd. Any opinions? I know apocalexxnow dislikes it, so I'm truly sorry i can't enter it. She was then known as Viktoriya ot simply Viki, not Viktoriya Kerin.
