I‘m thinking about changing my 12 to 10.
I still like the song very much but the more I listen to it, the more I‘ve been realizing what a mess it is, especially the live version.
It’s not that the song itself is a fader but it surely benefits from its first impression. Means that people listening to it for the first time (and that applies to a big part of the audience on the night of the GF) are gonna be impressed but if you listen closely and more than once you slowly see some subtle inconsistencies.

Probably the entry of this contest that makes me turn up the most along with Ukraine. Such a great party number.
It didn't move me at first but I am full on board now.

:12: points from me!

I am not sure if this is my favorite overall out of my 12 points but I am definitely rooting for this entry the most given how long its been since the last time France won.

Someone pointed out to me that the video on the eurovision channel from the NF has different audio to what was actually performed, why is this?

For the official video, they took the video of the rehearsal (there is no audience at all) and the audio of the studio version.
I must admit that camera moves were better during rehearsal (may be they edited them to be near perfect) but the studio version is for me weaker than the live one

Edit: Actualy, this is a mix of rehearsal and the live video. They took sequences from both video

I like this song. Sounds really amateur and unpolished. I imagine the art director before the performance: "you cute guy go out on stage play the drums and sing. Do your thing and dont pay attention to anybody, you three girls go on stage and sing and do whatever and who is this crazy girl moving her arms? Ok since you are here go on stage and get epileptic there". But I like it. :10:

Actualy, I imagined the Art Director asking Where are you from ? Brittany. Ok so I need Carnac to be on stage, we will use grey stairs to look like menhirs and dolmens. We will do the Brocéliance Forest with green ligths. Oh and Brittany is a land of legends with fogs, we will use smoke and blue ligths. Ok, now, what is this osng about ? It is based on the legend of a girl who rather like to dance with daemons all night til death than marry a man she didn't choose and love. Ok, we will put a girl dancing strangely, you the guy you will represent daemon, the girls you will represent the druids during a ceremony. And for the clothes, easy, black and gold embroidery, that way everybody will recognize Brittany...

@MopManMoss it is because the official video is the music video clip. But they obviously didn't have money and used the nf footage.

My review:

A French take on "Shum"? This is really good! Love the whole vibe, the club feeling, the ethnic parts, the oriental influences, the language. It's really one of the few standouts from a very boring year, and it makes me even sadder to think that the juries will most probably downvote this for bringing something fresh to the contest and for France. This one of those moments in ESC when the concept of the contest really comes to life, if it weren't for the juries, we would have more moments like these so we should enjoy the few opportunities.

I have a feeling that this could be the biggest thread for Ukraine to win it. You would say that Ukraine seems unbeatable for the televote-win. Entries like Italy, Spain, Sweden, nahh.. It needs to be something really outstanding, just as Norway with Keiino or something and last year Italy and Ukraine.

Now, there are two that comes to mind: Serbia and France. But Serbia might fail a bit with the juries, because they will just have a big WTF-moment without being able to take the time to understand the song and concept better.

So, that leaves France as the one to beat Ukraine. And yeah, maybe the juries will put Sweden and Italy forward big time, but we all know that at least one of them will dissapoint with the televotes.

I think Italy will do better in the televote than the juries. It has always been like that plus I don’t think juries vote for a country that has already won last year.

However I don’t think France could be a potential televote winner. On the contrary, I‘m afraid it will be on the fan flop side.

1. the novelty factor is gone since we had Ukraine last year with a folktronic song

2. it’s a bit messy live, almost scary I would say, although I really like the song. The performance not so much the more I‘m watching it. I think it will be improved in Turin so I expect it to be better than now.

Italy will flop with the juries bigger than in all previous years, so I don't think that they pose serious threat to anybody with nice audience appeal.

Despite all problems that French entry has with singing harmonies, it's still far better vocally and production wise than Italy and Ukraine.

Juries' top choices are 100% (random order):

1. Belgium
2. Poland
3. UK
4. Sweden
5. Greece, Netherlands and Azerbaycan singing that same song 😆

I´m really afraid of juries heavily supporting Belgium this year. I even predict them to qualify thanks to huge jury support - hopefully, it will finish bottom 2 in the televoting so that we don´t have to listen to that wannabe RnB Pop relic from the 90´s with that strange Bond-esque intro again.
