Basically wanted to say the same, so far nothing is really exciting. I'm curious if Erika Vikman will live up to the "hype"
I am probably one of the rare here, but I don't like Erica's songs, so I have zero expectation here as well. I am kind of hoping that the rock band will catch me.
So far this is the weakest UMK for me since years. But we have a few songs to come, so I am hoping!

i'm not a huge fan of her 2020 song either, but it seems shes the one where theres the most buzz around from what i read, but yea, so far this years UMK is yet missing a highlight

They're truly saving the best for last I think, this beginning has been very underwhelming. I really hope Erika and OML can still save us. 🙏 Nelli's song is pretty good but that one was definitely made for the Finnish radio and not Eurovision and I think Viivi and Goldielocks are going to be the same. I feel like this year has a lot of fantastic vocalists but the songs are not their best.

I don't like her recent output either but "Cicciolina" was an iconic piece of Eurovision history in the making taken away from us because of "professional" juries preferring a 0815 radio-friendly song.
If she can come up with something as brilliant, fun and joyful like her 2020 attempt, we already won, imo.

The production of "Nightmares" is still the best thing I've heard in any NF this season so far.
It might not be the most interesting or captivating entry (I think that Albania, Latvia have/had more to offer) but the overall production is highly professional and it's a song I go back to several times throughout the day. The chorus hits ten times harder than "We Will Rave". My inner Euro late 90's kid always goes absolutely wild when I hear the beat.

I even didn't like "Cicciolina"! People won't agree, but for me personally the song was nothing special and sounded like a 0815-song. But hey, she can still convince me! ;)

Oh well, after listening to all three songs I have to say that that I could have invested these minutes much better. 🥱

Here´s my ranking so far:

1. Nelli Matula - Hitaammin hautaan: It´s alright but for me musically a bit too uniform, I miss the heights and lows in the melody. The function of that strange kind of dance is also unclear to me. At least her voice is good, if she would screech a bit less towards the end it would be even better. All in all very middle of the road for me. :6:

2. Neea Rivers - Nightmares: I don´t think I´ll get nightmares tonight but no sweet dreams either. Sounds very much like the late 90s or early 2000s but without waking some kind of nostalgia in me. Not a big fan of this irritating beat and her pronunciation in English also isn´t great, sounds very slurry. Not unlistenable, but also not something I wanna listen to in my spare time. :4:

3. Costee - Sekaisin: This is basically the decaffeinated version of "Luktelk", very flat and monotonous and his voice also isn´t my cup of tea either. I could finish the song but that´s basically it. :3:

Sekaisin is so incredibly bland. I really don't have much else too. Radio filler that's very repetitive without any personality. I suppose I'd be put it just a hare above Nightmares.

Find it hard to believe this was one of the 7 best songs submitted to UMK this year. xshrug

Well, still waiting for my UMK-fire to burn IOTAP... the song is okay (slightly better than the three entries before), but nothing groundbreaking.

Well, actually I like this the most so far. Of course it doesn´t reinvent the wheel but it´s a very pleasant listening experience. At the moment I would give her a :7:.

It's almost not worth saying but "is it fast or slow?" is a fundamental question about pieces of music that's relevant to every piece of music from the dawn of time to now, and something that zigs on that question while everything else zags stands a really good shot at standing out. It's gotten really lucky that it has that because it doesn't have much else. End shows some potential.

So here are my two cents:

Nightmares: nice track, musically the chorus reminds me ab bit of Sara Aaltos Monsters (which I quite liked).

Hitaammin hautaan: I like that it is in finish. Apart from that, it's listenable, but not very impressive. But overall it's a solid entry that would stand out in some NFs I could mention...

Sekaisin: Not very many ideas here. I don't hear too much of Luktelk here, but maybe that's just me. For me it's a bit too repetitive, but I wouldn't skip it, if it came up on my playlist. At least it's an ear worm, an endangered species in Eurovision lately.

Aina: a middle of the road ballad, that has its nice moments - especially and the end of the chorus, but nothing more. Bit boring at times, I'd say. And I've heard a couple of versions of this song in various NFs in the last two to five years. It's not bad, but - kill me @Looren - this is the weakest entry for me so far.

It reminded me of some MF grand ballads... I loved this so much.. 🔥🤩😍🤌 I love the vocals, it is not so typical, it has some nice "flavor" to it... xheart

Tumblr, mostly.
Aina is cute enough. It's better than yesterday's gay, but worse than either of the eletropop songs.

Tomorrow's gonna be big. The band is an entrant I have an eye on in terms of UMK winners.
