THE GOOD:
-Overall, this is a good track.
-Darude seems into being involved in Eurovision. I'm going to call this a good thing.
THE BAD:
-Vocals are a bit muffled in parts.
-A minor thing, but I wanted more from the track. "Louder" and "brighter" are perhaps the words I'm looking for.
THE VERDICT:
This might be a lengthy verdict, folks. Buckle yourselves in.
Overall, I'm mostly buying what Darude and Co. are selling. Obviously, Darude couldn't do "Sandstorm" or even a clone of that famous track. However, maybe this track can become a "Sandstorm" for the Eurovision audience. Because of the genre of music Darude does, there will always be that segment of folks within the audience who will never throw votes his way. While all that is fine, for the most part, Darude did his part to perhaps cast the biggest net he could with this track.* Adding to all of this is the performance I saw just a while ago, in which there is a good concept to go along with this track, which only enhances your chances in my eyes.
Now, onto the million-dollar question: Will this track win it all for Darude and Finland? I say to you that perhaps it's got a good chance. The star power is there with Darude, the track is good overall, and the performance of it somewhat sold it for me. While the track may not have the best sound in the field, sometimes a great performance can hide that. I would say that is what this track needs, really. The song itself gets 7 points, only because I wanted something bolder from Darude. The performance gets 8 points.
*JSYK, this is really one of my two big things when it comes to ranking Eurovision songs. The best song to me is one that casts the biggest net to catch the most fish (the audience). The other big thing is a great sound with no flaws detected, either in vocals or instrumentals.
