Re: FINLAND 2014
Neither is big, that's for sure. Mikko Pohjola did have a record deal going into the competition, but that's about it. Softengine got a record deal in the beginning of the UMK. Currently, both Mikko's and Softengine's songs are being played on the radio, though on different stations. I'd guess Mikko Pohjola's song is on the more popular stations, but that's about it.
Softengine have just over 3000 Facebook likes, having received lots of them during UMK, whereas Mikko Pohjola has about 2300, with a slower growth, even though there's been one. Can't really say much about that.
On Spotify, the two are ahead of everybody else, with Mikko Pohjola slightly ahead as the first one to get over 30,000 listens.
As a side note, Iltalehti (a popular Finnish tabloid) published the results of a poll with 5000 respondents, where Softengine and Lauri Mikkola were far ahead of the rest, who all were on similar numbers. Not that 5000 respondents actually mean anything and the margin of error is what it is, but lots of people read that paper daily and will get their picture of the situation from there and perhaps watch UMK with expectations based on that.
As another side note, it seems odd saying this as a Eurovision fan, but the more ESC fans in general dislike a song, the more certain I am to like it and vice versa. My favourite in UMK is Softengine, followed by Mikko Pohjola and Lauri Mikkola…
Not that it means anything but who is bigger in Finland, Softengine or Mikko?
