I am fine with the most possible outcomes in the semi finals

Since I support the underdogs, I'd love to see a final between Morocco and Croatia... when was the last time we had an miracle winner in World Cup similar to Greece or Denmark in Euros 2004 and 1992? I think the last and only time we had a big surprise winner was Germany in 1954.

Then again, I am not gonna deny that a final between France and Argentina would be awesome to watch, too. Can Messi get the crowning for his great career or can France successfully defend their title?

The only final I really don't wanna see is France vs Croatia all over again because we had this four years ago already

Anyway if this has to happen, I hope Croatia is gonna finish Argentina off in 90 minutes cause four years ago I think Croatia was a little tired in the final after they literally played 360 minutes plus penalties in the knock-out rounds before while France only had to play 270 minutes and no penalty stress (I argue that shooting penalties is tiring and exhausting too, not on a phsyical but on a mental base)

Argentina - Croatia 0:2 - early goal for Croatia, Argentina builds up big pressure but Lovakovic is having the match of his life, then a deadly counter attack by Croatia and the deal is sealed after 90 minutes.

France - Morocco 1:0 - Morocco play courageously in the first 45 minutes, both teams create good chances. In the second half France gets dominant and Morocco defends heroically. However in the 88th minute they break the resistance and take the lead through an deflected long distance shot by Rabiot.

So according to my prediction we will see a repitition of last final... as I said I would not like this but I hope Croatia could get their revenge

The fact we had key defence players out and injured such as Aguerd, Mazraoui and Saiss but yet our defensive wall has succeeded. It shows that we have faith in all of the squad members not just our key starting 11

Croatia and Marocco well done!

Now please kick out overconfident French players and Messentina who have referees on their side all the time.

:fr: looks like :br: in 2014 to me: high quality level of forwards, lucky victories, exaggerated enthusiasm and gaps (which only a few of us saw). Then we know how it ended. The Blues are a team that moves like a pendulum starting from midfield: this helps in defensive retreats (which fill the gaps of a rocky but slow defense not so much in running but as in managing opponent raids) and in offensive ones triggering the Dembele, MBappe and Kounde on duty who have leg. The real team men for me are Griezmann (all-fielder and the true talent of the Gauls) and Rabiot (in a state of crazy form). Giroud is very "sharp" but he also shines because he lives in this era where national teams don't have a number 9 and take care to select marathon runners instead of technical players. About MBappe I say to those who idolize him as the new Pele, who is strong but in the 90s he would have been one of many. Please be objective. The decision to leave Benzema at home, however, was technical. I don't believe in injury. Benzema is as strong as a mud man in real life, a weed driver in the locker room. The match against England showed us that if you know how to keep up with the transalpine sprinters and put the midfield under pressure they are very beatable. Anyone who talks about "superior team" understands football but only because he reads the newspapers and repeat like a parrot. I hope that :ma:, although I don't particularly like it, can eliminate the pumped up French.

On :ma: and :hr: instead I say that the former plays "Catenaccio all'Italiana" (but if they use it it's epic xbowxcry, we instead unsightly :poop:) while the latter is the real strongest team in the tournament and plays as :ar: should do. We, in Serie A, continue to take foreigners and distort our winning system with a marvelous-football idea and we will see others win with our own weapons xfacepalmBetween :ma: and :hr:, I say :hr: all my life xkiss Having said that, I think that if the final is :ar: - :ma: then there is no hope for the Maghrebis while if they play against :hr: (which is exhausted by very tough matches made up of extra time and penalties) :ma: could succeed in the great victory (even because :hr:, unlike :ar: plays football). Before explaining what I mean when I say that ":hr: plays football", I tell you that the actual values will return from the next World Cup. Covid, too close competitions and an atypical winter world championship have created confusion in the top teams. :hr: therefore, compared to :ar:, taking up my previous statement "playing football" will be more manageable for :ma:. The Argentines, on the other hand, in addition to being technically and physically strong, will put it on provocation and on blind beatings. It will be one hell of a match xpunishxshockxfaint

I was actually thinking about this a week ago or so. Back in the 90s wingbacks were sort of a novelty. Most teams would simply play with 4 or 5 defenders who were actually defenders. Versatile speed demons like Mbappe existed (Overmars, Giggs etc) but they weren't half as effective because they would meet people who could actually defend very well. If Maldini was a right back instead of a left back you could have Mbappe vs Maldini for instance. It's the end of the line for Mbappe then. Yesterday he was also ineffective against Walker who is a fairly strong defender. Instead the masters of that age were the big passers in midfield. Zidane, Nedved, Bergkamp, Aimar etc, they would split defensive lines open and while wingers were obviously a threat at all times they were hardly ever the focal point of an attack. Even Luis Figo for instance, whilst being extremely good (and extremely annoying with his total lack of sportsmanship), was never thought of as the focal point. Even in the Portuguese team the focus was Deco or Rui Costa.

Nowadays we don't really have such midfielders. Only Modric and Kevin de Bruyne are elite level distributors. And okay, Messi perhaps, but it's not quite the same. Most midfielders are just pretty good at everything. Problem for this type of role is just that ever since the inversion of wingers there is no room for them to really do anything. The center gets too crowded and there is no space behind the last line. Italy tried pulling their passing dude a bit back with the whole Pirlo thing and that was a slight positive to their game, but most passers don't have the required range to pull that off so it was only copied sparingly.

So yeah what we're left with is Mbappe running riot in a post-inversion era. Most backs can't defend very well and they are very often out of position. Instead the backs are good at pressing and counterattacking. In comes Morocco with Hakimi. I don't think we'll see much of Mbappe. Hakimi has had every opponent under control so far. Only that Spanish lad Olmo was able to make some plays, but that required Spain to commit 4 men to that side, too high a price to pay.

I´m already prepared to get frustrated watching the game tomorrow.

There´s gonna be so much foul play, taunts, tension, drama etc etc.

I really hope our players keep their cool. xpray

And... Argentina one step away from the final xbeach Croatia is strong (technically it has nothing to envy to the South Americans) but above all they are tired. The Croatian path was too tough xshrug

I don’t see what the :hr: goalie could do… definitely not a penalty. He was hardly going to step aside and let the Argie’s score…

Now I want Morocco in the final. I want to see the North African people happy beyond measure and then sinking into despair after being struck down by Messi, by the descendants of the same blood that some have considered "Miserable". Because it's not falling first that hurts. What hurts is falling before the goal. I see in it something poetically cruel, Shakespearian. The only opportunity of a lifetime (also obtained thanks to Covid and a winter world championship that has upset everything) that vanishes forever and will never be repeated. Forced to return to life another 150 years of anonymity. In the future, when the time to tread this world will end for those of our age, some old Moroccan fan lying on the bed, before drawing his last breath, will be sad for a joy never experienced and will think "Damn blood Latin!" and he will instruct his little nephew, as Amilcare Barca did in the past with his little Hannibal, to hate the "Blood of Rome" xbeachxrofl
