My username comes from the obscure, cult hit murder mystery videogame called Deadly Premontion. The game was called Rainy Woods before undergoing a revamp, probably to avoid the developers getting their backsides sued by David Lynch. The original trailer for the game below shared such striking similarities to the Twin Peaks series.

Deadly Premonition holds a Guinness World Record for being the most polarizing game of all time, receiving a 10/10 from Destructoid and as low as a 2/10 from IGN (boooo). Some call the game so bad it's good. I just genuinely adore it. Probably my favourite game of all time. Beautiful story, touching, fascinating characters, campy, weird, packed full of trivia and pop culture references and with about a gazillion laugh out loud moments.. Oh + just about the most darn iconic soundtrack of all time. Think jazz, lounge bar blues and avant-garde dolphin songs.

My favourite cutscene from the game in the spoiler below and it goes without saying.. MAJOR SPOILERS Don't watch if you plan on checking the game out.

But yeah, so that's how i'm RainyWoods here and a bunch of other places. I loved the games original title so much.

Older people may remember the band which i took my user name from, they were about in the early 1980's. Well the connectionwith this site is that i thought i could remember them being in the uk "Song For Europe" competition with "Space Age Love Song" and they came last. A few years ago i searched the internet to find out who else had been in the same competition only to find out "A Flock Of Seagulls" had never been in the competition. It still baffles my where this memoery came from especially as a friend of mine won't believe they weren't in the competition as he says he's got the same memory.

I couldn't think of any at least remotely interesting username so I took the first thing I saw on my desk: nail polish.

nail polish = lak za nokte (in croatian)

For ages my go-to username has been "calvininsf," alluding to my name (Calvin) and longtime hometown (San Francisco). For a couple things, though, while I was in my super-camp phase, I switched to "PiafLawPrincess96," alluding to my then-serious interest in :us: legal history (now just a hobby) and my love of Edith Piaf, which remains my Steam name and was my Twitter handle for a while. It also ranks as the single most embarrassing username anyone has ever come up with,* hence it is no longer my Twitter handle, and the second that I'm not too lazy to figure out how to change it, it will no longer be my Steam username. I'm really fascinated by online dating as a social experiment, which is why I originally joined noted online dating site OKCupid (okay maybe "my one boyfriend ever discovered he was asexual as a result of our interactions" didn't hurt). In the search for a username, I took inspiration from PiafLawPrincess96 and selected "lavieenrose96," Piaf's painfully romantic masterpiece with 96 tacked on for my birth year because it sounded pretty and would start conversation with the kind of single gentlemen in whom I was interested. When I joined ESCUnited, it was mostly to catch up on news relating to ESC rather than how I use it now, i.e. my entire social life for what it is. In August of 2014, OKCupid was the second thing I'd check when I went online, as "my one boyfriend ever discovered he was asexual as a result of our interactions" had kind of taken over my life at that point. Hence "lavieenrose" was the more prominent username in my mind, and the idea of a Piaf law princess on a Eurovision forum felt like a cool way to present myself. Were I a premium member, would I switch back to calvininsf? Ehhh possibly. I've grown kind of accustomed to it (even as Lupus obviated OKCupid for me entirely - still read their blog, though), and it's a song that's only grown more special to me as a result of it being my username here. In fact, when I was having problems on Dubtrack for a bit and had to use my Google Account name calvininsf, I was a little irked that even close friends knew me as something other than Lavieenrose. I will never revert to "PiafLawPrincess96" rest assured. That Calvin is, thankfully for everyone, dead and gone...mostly. xshifty xgay2 A lot of people have given me "Lavie" as a nickname, which I like a lot even if it reminds me of La Fee, a German singer whom I somewhere between dislike and despise. Carrie tried to make "Lavieen" happen for a while, which I also liked. Nothing beats "LVER" as a shortening of my name, though, which I originally used to make clear to what my username referred when I sent PMs but is now my favorite way of shortening my username. It's starting to catch on, especially with people with whom I mostly communicate by PMs, which certainly makes me happy. All the nicknames are being used less and less, though, as I become one of those users like esc87fan and Stargazer whom a lot of people call by their IRL names. That's a little unsettling, I guess, but it's also really, really great to have grown so close to everyone that people feel comfortable calling me by something other than a handle.

*possibly second but only to my Snapchat, austenmerylfan. Before you ask, yes, indeed Meryl Streep.

CEGS are the initials of my full name (Two first names + two last names) and 5 is just random. This has been my official nickname in many hookup websites and apps, so when I joined ESC I thought it would be very convinient to have the same ID in all my gayworld sites.

Karhu means "bear" in Finnish. Bears have always been my favorite animal since I was a kid. Then as I've grown up I've ended up somewhat resembling one as well. So I also identify as a bear in the gay-culture sense.

It's in Finnish because I think Finnish sounds cool. :D Sometimes I go by Carwho (usually when Karhu is taken).

Kind of a long explanation here. It came from some mini-LAN party I went to at a school IT room when I was 14 or so, and couldn't think of what username to choose for the games. I ended up just being lazy, and everybody else was going with silly names anyway, so I copied a name of a Mii I'd made on the family's Nintendo Wii not long beforehand - Zobolobols (which was just random nonsense sounds I used to name a weird-looking character). The server for the LAN crashed after a few minutes, and when it came back up and tried to log in, our previous usernames were locked and couldn't be reused, meaning we had to use different ones. So, still not really caring much about the name, I just copied the name of another random Mii I'd made (ManyCamels). The server kept crashing, though, since our school's net infrastructure was pretty crap and Australian internet's nothing impressive anyway. So, with each reset, I had to change my username.

On the third username entry I combined the two Mii names to make 'ManyZoboCamels', and then 'ZoboCamels' the time after that, and then eventually 'ZoboCamel'. The server finally stopped crashing at that point, so I used that name for the rest of the day. About a week later I had to make an account on some website - I forget what now - so I figured I'd just reuse 'ZoboCamel' from the LAN day. Eventually it became a habit, and, well, here we are. No particular meaning to the name, but it's easy to type, remember and shorten, plus I don't think I've ever had a problem with it being taken.

TL;DR there's no real meaning to it but I ended up with it due to randomisation and shitty internet, it became a habit, and I came to like it over time.

Pop À Vapeur is a blog I created about asian pop music (almost 90% of korean pop, sometimes US/EU music, ESC as well) in 2011 written in French, it means "Steam Pop" referring of a way to produce thing (like Steam trains) that could be fast, hot, steam stuff (dumplings yummy).I choose this one because it's talking about music and ESC is well, music. It's not my "ultimate" nickname because i've got 2 or 3 more and I switch from sites to sites, then i delete some cause i've grown up and my first one "Sephiroth222" became very uncomfortable to wear :D . I guess Popavapeur will -maybe- disappear one day :-)

Well honestly I went through so much to figure out my name. My username is based on something that has really shaped my entire life and it means so much to me. I have used this name for 23 years on so many things. This name is on my license, birth certificate, University degree, rental agreements and so many other things

Derived from an ancient Celtic/Nordic battlecry which means "victory". Also derived from one of my favourite books:

Con is the first three letters of my first name (CONnor) and Wel is the first three letters of my surname (WELch). I existed for many years here as conwel97 which just has my birth year on the end (boring I know ) but then I got premium membership this year and transformed iconically into theCONWEL. Basically, CONWEL is capitalised for emphasis, and the is just there because I'm the one and only xqueenbitch

I've been using this username for everything since 2009, primarily for my YouTube channel.
My friend and I, ten years old at the time, were inspired by iCarly to create a "webshow." (Forgive us, we were just kids.)
We decided on the name Scratch That, and the year was 2009.
Of course, that show never happened, but now I post my own videos on the YouTube.
Yes, I'm only 17.
