We can't seriously be comparing Sweden this year to France last year. Sweden has a lot more going for it this year, and let's not forget that France was the exception to the rule that the bookies usually get it there or thereabouts.

Why not? France was seen as a fresh entry that was going to storm the contest and there was much hype in the French thread last year. It's not a silly comparison, a silly comparison is Loreen with Rybak, as clearly she's not hitting the 1.1 & 1.2s that she would need to run away with it.

Out of interest 2010 odds before rehearsals:

Think with this year Ireland are going to massively shorten with rehearsals

Well France was only the big faves among the bookmakers. They weren't the big fave among the fans. Hungary was a bigger fave. So no Sweden can't be compared to anything last year since she tops everywere, fan polls, bookmakers, hit lists... Last year there wasn't a clear fave as Loreen this year.

BTW it's funny that people from UK question Sweden's postion at the top at the betting odds. The real question is that if UK would be that high on the betting odds if most bookmakers weren't from UK? I don't think so. Look last year the bookmakers hyped UK too and look where they ended...

^ We were 125/1 in 2010 mate ;). In any case, you have a selective memory, France was seen as a much clearer winner last year than Sweden is this year. And in the end, didnt even manage to get onto the left hand side of the board

Really?? Then why didn't France top any votings?? Why didn't they won the OGAE poll if they were that much clearer winner than Sweden this year? Sorry Sweden 2012 is the biggest faves since Rybak 2009. By who was France seen as much clearer winner than Sweden this year?

Where did I say that I questioned it? nowhere. I actually rather like Euphoria, and it is the current fave to win. But people are talking like she has already won, and that happened with France last year as well. I'm just saying that she is nowhere near a runaway winner that Rybak was, his odds were so close to 1 it is unreal, people need to stop talking like she is. She's a front runner, but a front runner that can easily be caught.

On the subject of the UK last year and you saying the bookmakers hyped the UK, how do you not know that has happened with Euphoria? France/Estonia/UK the top 3 to win yet none of them within an earshot.

Nike, if you think winning OGAE is a good thing then sorry you're gunna be disappointed  OGAE is even less irrelevant now that 50% of the result is from musical experts.
To even compare your song this year to Alexander Rybak is just shameful!! The difference was Alexander had an awesome song, a very distinctive voice and the performance had all the quirks necessary to make an AWESOME Eurovision entry - bit like Eric Saade did last year. Your's this year is a song everyone's heard a million times already, a simple singer and a woman flapping her arms round on stage, if that is the 'quirk' then oh dear is all I can say! France was a certain favourite last year - it was on all the TV stations here, oh yes it's gunna be France - even sports channels had it on on Eurovision weekend I remember. I dont think Sweden's been mentioned even once here .

Hmm didn't Hero run away with the OGAE poll too? and last year two horse race between Hungary & France. It's not exactly something to go off

The same are people saying for Euphoria. It tops hit lists and itunes around Europe. People are saying it's most played in Israel, Italy ect. It was played in Turkish sport radio stations. Euphoria was on SPANISH TV even before it was released. France have used Euphoria to both Earth hour and president selection. Now even the DISNEY channel use Euphoria. The difference is that I think France did a promotion tour. Loreen hasn't been outside Sweden except for Norway. Still Loreen is EVERYWHERE!

Yes Hero won OGAE votings. But it wasn't the big fave among the bookmakers. That's my point Euphoria tops everything, fan polls, bettings and hit lists... The same can't be said for Sweden 2008, France 2011 and Hungary 2011.

The same people as who said France last year  The only year the favourite has won since the Juries were introduced is 2009 - and like I said he had the perfect Eurovision entry, one that appealed to both Jury and Televote. The only places I've seen Loreen about is on Swedish fans signatures .

If so then you aren't a real ESC fan. I mean yeah she tops the European hit lists because the ESC fans?? Yeah and France didn't top any fan polls like Sweden this year. Sweden just beat Rybak's OGAE record. A OGAE poll that France didn't even win last year. Yeah right France were a much clearer winner loool! So which ESC fans are you talking about?

But she still hasn't beaten Hero's score in OGAE... which shows how useful that poll is

OGAE 2008:

Sweden (380 votes)
Portugal (268 votes)
Serbia (216 votes)
Switzerland (209 votes)
Andorra (182 votes)

This is where your argument falls apart, as you are clearly basing this purely on your dislike of the hype around "Euphoria" this year.

You keep bringing up the selective memory argument, and that is just total nonsense. I remember crystal clear the hype around France last year, and while a lot of people thought it would win (myself included), not too many of those people (in comparison to Loreen) actually liked it. It was a song regarded by most as being "good, but not my type of song. Opera sucks". It always had It's genre against it. Sweden has been warmly embraced by a huge number of Eurovision fans, and is topping every poll imaginable. Not to mention It's firm status as bookies favourite, which as I already said, USUALLY means it will be there or thereabouts. France was an exception.

All we have to go on at the moment are Bookies odds and fan polls. And every piece of info at the moment predicts a sizeable Swedish victory. Until any of that changes, I remain convinced that this is Sweden's competition to lose.

Last year I did not watch any of polls, or for the bookmaker or the forums. I just watched / listened to the songs. And as I said QwaarJet I thought "France at the level, but it's not mine"
