When Denmark won in 2013, I thought it was an obvious and not-great decision (although the best placement for a song that I preferred to Denmark that year was 4th, so I could be placated by how I preferred Denmark to the alternative), but the performance from Greatest Hits was pretty great; I'd like the decision a lot more if they'd arranged it like that at Eurovision.
I love, love, love "Tu te reconnaîtras," and Anne-Marie did not disappoint; the English version had me worried, but it was actually really sweet.
The English translation of "Diggi-loo, diggi-ley" made me thankful for the language rule, but who can complain about that performance with a straight face?
"Diva" is one of Eurovision's best winners, non-existent range on DI's part be damned.
I sense some lukewarm-ness whenever talking to people about "Fly on the Wings of Love." That's thoroughly undeserved. My evidence? That performance.
Brotherhood of Man weren't as impressive as Herreys, but…still. It confuses me how crazy people go for that song, but it's still a joy.
Who would've thought Rosa López would be that good?
Awwww Nicole. Ralph
On that note, V-MONEY
Should've kept it all in German, but it was a nice allusion to her reprise.
Oh my god Riverdance.
Lordi can teach all of us a lesson about what happens when a group from Finland that gets universal condemnation brings a genre previously unfamiliar to Eurovision. Love them, love them, love them (although the new backing vocalist isn't as good as the old one).
I didn't understand the appeal behind Natasha St.-Pier until that - what a gorgeous performance.
Overall, huge fan so far. I'll watch the others later.
