Wonder if it ever crossed your mind
That what we had was really unbelievable, unbeatable, a miracle
Why'd you have to go and mess it up?
Why'd you have to make what was unbreakable shakable, unsavable?
And now it's too late to cross your fingers
I'm wide awake and not a dreamer
Hate it, but it seems the dreams were never true
For a little while the fates were with us
Wonder why they had to turn against us
I could make a wish, but there is no use

I can feel
Even though I'm numb
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

Thought I had a cloud over my head
It had to be my fault that it kept raining down
Until now, I figured out
That if I had the nerve to say goodbye
I could look for clearer skies up over head
Weather says sun instead

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

I can feel (Even though I'm numb)
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see (I can feel)
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

The song is already considered dated to some extent by many (if not everybody), now is not the time to hammer it home with a cheesy key change. Just look at "Voices" and "Set Me Free", did that make the songs better? Personally, I don't think so.

To me, "The Lucky One" is fine as is, they could up their game staging-wise though.

Well, leaning into the cheese could be the better idea at this point, in regards to qualifying chances. Those who already consider it dated probably aren't going to be voting for him anyway, so making it more cheesy wouldn't make any difference to them. It's just the fact that it currently sits in a kind of middle zone. It's not cheesy enough to attract the cheese-lovers, it's not modern enough to massively appeal to juries, it's competent but not noteworthy. Which is the kind of song that tends to be forgotten when it's time to get voting. Needless to say I hope I'm wrong, and I do like the song myself.. but watching the live version & comparing to others in our semi, it kind of fades in the background. In any case, I doubt they'll be making any real changes to the song itself anyway, so better staging is probably the best we can hope for.

I don't think a key-change in itself is inherently bad. They've been overused, but sometimes they do work to add punch to the finale, keep the song from getting samey. It's better to have a song that has enough variation & progress during it's runtime without needing a key-change to spice up the ending.. but sometimes a half-assed key-change as development is still better than no development at all. But I guess it comes down to taste, the specific song in question etc. No one-size-fits-all solution here.

I've not listened to "Set Me Free" in a while, but I do kind of like "Voices". Don't think the key-change is necessary in that song, but wouldn't say it ruins it either. I think people predicting it will NQ or flop with televoters are engaging in some wishful thinking.. seems to me one of the most certain qualifiers from Semi 1. If it was our song, I'd have no worries at all. Alas, The Lucky One is a much more borderline case. I do hope we'll get lucky, but I guess time will tell. :)

Don't shit your pants just yet. Estonia is gonna stand out in the first half of the second semi final and will snatch everyone's wigs. I like it better than Iceland and it is my Top 3 of all song so far.

Male power ballad singers advance more easily than females. Even the beige Running With Lions almost advanced in 2019. Estonia is far superior to this in a Sea of beige up-tempos.

My stage design would see a "car crash" scene with Uku being the badly injured survivor. He wears his sexy tuxedo which is ripped and dirty, his hands and face are bloody.

Yeah I think SF2 is very open, he's pretty much the only hot looking man that's singing an electronic pop ballad  There's not even a clear favorite in the semi, Iceland will do worse than people think because they don't have a memorable chorus like last year. Anything can happen really

I guess Switzerland is the biggest favorite from semi 2? But it's certainly a very messy semi to predict. The fact we've seen so few live performances this year makes it even harder! Some promising entries could turn out to be underwhelming/messy on stage. I guess with Uku we at least have a general idea how he will deliver on stage. Will all the similar female uptempos jammed into the first half of the semi qualify? Would make sense that at least one (if not two) fail to make it, but who knows what they will bring on stage. Who's getting the second slot? Austria? Poland? They better not give it to Uku again.

I hope they ditch the chains, or figure out some way to make better use of them. I get the symbolism and all, but they were a wee bit pointless just hanging there. In the final performance, the moment where they dropped was almost unnoticeable too. Would they even be able to keep them? Will probably have to pay a bunch to have fancy props like that.

I am not too fond of the chains though, but I think they wanna sell Uku as the next Mr Grey.
They can keep the dark mysterious mood as it suits the song very much, but they still need to make Uku very visible, because we need to see his pretty face (and frankly speaking he is the main highlight of the entry).

Wouldn't be surprised considering how heavily they rely on the bookies xthink Czechia will probably get one of the #2 and #3. But it would make sense they put Estonia between big uptempo favourites, the moody and dark staging is good for contrast :)

Probably it's an improvement from last year, but will anyone remember to vote for Estonia? I don't think so. 3 points.

Uku flopped hard with the Juries. 8th/12 Place in the Semi.
In the Superfinal he won with around 46%.
Last Year he had 70%.

redel fourth in the televoting - not so bad for the praiser of the wodden towns of estonia.

seems, the richer people have choosen uku - you know 99 eurocent or more? for a call.
i like eesti laul a lot - smaller than melo but always some interesting fresh music - wish me that format with 2 semis (10-12 acts each) also for the very rich germany but no chance.
estonia has choosen again uku - good idea?
i dont think so - the lucky one is the personification of a lame schmaltzy pop song.
jurys were right here not giving so many points.
sorry estonia :0:for the boring one.

Performing at #2 has really made his qualification unlikely. Then again, Birgit did it with a very sleepy and unmemorable song, so who knows.

Birgit had the advantage that Shine was a mediocre pop song that should not have opened in the semi in the first place.

Uku is following up to a banger that makes me really worried about his chances.

EBU being hell-bent on screwing Uku is nasty. I mean last year he was also drawn into position no 2 in the running order.

It could have been even worse if right after was not Czechia but Moldova which was possible.

Watching the recap, it still kinda stands out with Czechia, Greece, Austria and Poland following right after. What helps his case is there is no other song in his style in the semi or in the entire contest. Let's wait and see.
