Wonder if it ever crossed your mind
That what we had was really unbelievable, unbeatable, a miracle
Why'd you have to go and mess it up?
Why'd you have to make what was unbreakable shakable, unsavable?
And now it's too late to cross your fingers
I'm wide awake and not a dreamer
Hate it, but it seems the dreams were never true
For a little while the fates were with us
Wonder why they had to turn against us
I could make a wish, but there is no use

I can feel
Even though I'm numb
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

Thought I had a cloud over my head
It had to be my fault that it kept raining down
Until now, I figured out
That if I had the nerve to say goodbye
I could look for clearer skies up over head
Weather says sun instead

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

I can feel (Even though I'm numb)
The change to come will hurt someone
I can see (I can feel)
This time it isn't me
I might be the lucky one

I don't need a crystal ball to show me
Baby, it is plain that you don't know me
When it comes to you I'm better off alone (Better off alone)
I don't need a crystal ball to make me
Realize that if I stay you'll break me
Every sign is saying I should be gone
I should be gone

What, the fact that they randomly sum up cities in Estonia?

I've been to Narva, you know.

Miserable place. Full of Russians.

The 24 entries in this NF seem so unnecessary. Half of the entries are just alright (with a couple barely listenable) and the other half just decent. I haven't heard anything overly amazing. I think just let Uku S. win and give him his deserved chance to perform at ESC.

Narva is actually one of the jolliest cities in the world, but it turned to extremely miserable place as soon as you entered. Everything was back to normal as soon as you left. I guess it is the same with every other city in the world, because of the totally unnecessary bigotry you bring to the table against certain nationalities.

I am actually warming up to:
- Gram-of-Fun (love the 80s inspired track, just imagine if them together with Raylee and Teflon Brothers x Pandora winning and then Stefania's supposed 80s inspired track, we are going to have a retro fest)
- Karl Killing (it's such a lovely little tune. reminded me of those USA indie-pop songs).

With Uku Suviste and Koit Toome joining them for the songs that I put on my Spotify ESC 2021 NF playlist.
Haven't gravitate towards the others as of now.

Damn', Lost in a Dance is such a beautiful, touching pearl and Kistel is actually decent live. (not perfect. There's still some wonky notes, but her backings are very, very good). I can't see how it qualifies from their semi though, but oh well. At least it's something they can be proud of ^_^

Will participation in the Estonian Song be canceled? Jüri Pootsmann is on home treatment with coronavirus

Oh dear. That's so unfortunate. Hopefully, he will recover soon. He has less than about 2 weeks till his semi. And I am not sure if one recover from the disease, does that person still need to get quarantined etc.

Well obviously regulations may vary from country to country. But I had to spend about 3 weeks in total at home while only having symptoms for the first 2 or 3 days.

I really enjoyed doing that Estonian NF throwback post last year, so I decided to do something similar now as well :) Only this time I'll just post a couple of picks from anywhere over the years in a few posts, rather than from specifically 5 or 10 years back. So here goes...

First, let's go back exactly 20 years, when we won the contest! I didn't mind "Everybody" and it eventually grew on me quite a lot, helped by it having been a massive hit in Estonia that year for obvious reasons, but in Eurolaul my original favorite was this Kadi Toom song. I've been meaning to revisit it again for a while, I had forgotten what it sounded like and assumed I hadn't actually heard this since 2001 - but it turns out it's the same song which has been played on the radio occasionally that I thought to be one of those Evelin Samuel songs by Pajusaar/Pilvre, so that was quite surprising.

Now this, from 1998, is a masterpiece. I posted one of Kate's (real name Katrin Mandel) songs in that previous post but I've been listening to the others and this is even cooler; I thought those songs were vaguely interesting as a kid but now I really like her take on ethno-inspired music, and it's worth noting she was really close to going to Eurovision with several of her entries finishing second or third. We should definitely send some ethnopop again at some point.

And something a little newer, this is Lauri Pihlap (of Soul Militia/2XL fame) in 2014 and my fave entry that year. The instrumental of it sounds incredible for me (if fairly minimalist), and it just isn't the type of a song you often hear Estonian artists make.

Fun fact: Priit Pajusaar apparently participated with a song called "Soovide Puu" (sung by Evelin Samuel, who would later sing "Diamond of Night") years before the Sandra one, in 1994.

Regarding this, ERR just revealed that the music videos will be shown instead of a live performance if the artist is sick or in isolation.

Hmm. So that would mean that artist will still be eligible to compete. But I wonder if that will be an advantage or not since we won't know how the performer will do 'live'. Plus I take it all entries have a ready shot music video?

If only the broadcast has thought of getting the artist to do a pre-recorded 'live' performance in advance so they can use that instead of a music video during such situation.
