In honor of it being 2020, I found this old performance (apparently it's from a "Dancing with the Stars" show which probably explains some of the weirdness) of Laura's song "2020" (Don't worry, she does eventually show up ;))

Uku Suviste's song is one of my guilty pleasures this year. Such a cheesy song, but I've been listening to it over and over xrollinglol

Also, what a handsome guy Uku is.

So Stefan apparently continues to save his catchier songs for the regular Estonian market releases and participating in the NF with more forgettable ones :D

Since we've almost reached the Eesti Laul month, I thought it would be interesting to look back at some examples of what the :ee: NFs were like 5, 10, 15 and 20 years ago xmusic

2015 - The last Eesti Laul before moving to Saku Suurhall and the year of Elina & Stig, it also featured lots of other interesting songs (including by a ton of artists participating in 2020 like Mariliis Jõgeva, Kruuv and the frontman of Revals). Also probably my favorite interlude clips (the ones with kids acting out adult situations) and the debut of the three-song superfinal. The below drum'n'bass banger by the producer Demie is my personal fave from this edition.

2010 - The second Eesti Laul which was affected by the economic crisis, this one I actually missed but it seems like the parody clips by Märt Avandi/Ott Sepp (their first hosting) might be the most remembered songs from here, weirdly enough. That doesn't mean there weren't notable songs though.

2005 - The confused era of Eurolaul when Estonia was on a nonqualification streak at Eurovision and the selection process was constantly switched up, and when the novelty of Eurovision participation and early success had worn off for Estonians. I actually tried to find something else interesting because picking "Moonwalk" seems such an obvious choice, but this was kind of a dull period and well, it is one one of the most notable robberies in our NF (Sven Lõhmus himself has said that he sabotaged its chances by entering two songs!)

2000 - The first time the eventual winner, Ines' "Once in a Lifetime" was hyped up as an Eurovision favorite, with pre-rock band career Tanel Padar (who would go on to win ESC the following year with Dave Benton/2XL) singing backup for her. Lots of other cool songs here as well, like Kate's "Verevend" ("Blood Brother"). I really appreciate her songs with their ethno elements now as an adult and she really sounds like proto-Trad Attack.

In 1995 Estonia was relegated, the only time we've missed the contest since debuting, so here's a bonus clip, the 1994 winner "Nagu merelaine" performed in the old Linnahall, complete with orchestra.

@Daybreak I did a full ranking of Eesti Laul 2010 some days ago and gave 0 / 10 for "Astronaut". :)
