^ Because of all this hype... and I guess she is very popular in Estonia.

Not really, she's hyped only in this Eesti Laul 2014 context.

I see. Is Lenna more popular than her? Or some other finalist?

Lenna and Traffic are the only ones who have had stable moderate success and support over the years as bands. Kõrsikud are a farily new group but doing well.

Maiken is a known name but as a vocal coach and not a singer. Tanja is a known name but not for her own songs. Sandra Nurmsalu is a known name in Urban Symphony context, hasn't done almost anything since 2010. Norman Salumäe, well, people probably know who he is.

The others are newcomers or nonames.

This is the most obvious thing in 1st March.

Well she has a chance to get floppe by jury. I would say that the top 2 of juries will be kõrsikud and maiken. The ones which could potentially also beat Sandra in jury rankings are Traffic, Norman Salumäe (he got hyped by 2 juries out of 3 today), Lenna, Wilhelm and Super Hot Cosmos Blues Band. So I think the only 2 ones which Sandra could easily beat in jury scores are Tanja and Brigita. Sandra could get anywhere from 3-8 points from the jury. Getting like 6 could easily drop her out of the final. She is likely to make it into final, but it is far from sure.

It would be interesting to take a look at the points from last year, Eerik posted them here at some point but cannot find them now...

Estonia should have a big applaud for emphasizing on native language xclap

In the current climate of Anglovision... ehm sorry Eurovision... a country with a small language like this standing up for this is really nice!

Please... You're turning into a parody of yourself.

I miss reading comments from you that are not always about language and ethno-stuff.

It's quite impressing that on a Eurovision fan forum out of all places you get crap for applauding when a small country like Estonia with a small language emphasizes on using it... I see the EURO spirit is really alive and kicking in here... xshrug

Anyways, people will see my ranking when all songs have been finally chosen, and as every year they expect there to be a language bias, only to expect that there isn't any actually...

Is it worth me bothering, or should we just shake hands and not even start this?

Relax, people always react that way when you repeat one and the same over and over and over and over again
Nobody says it's a bad thing to stand for what you believe in ;)
I applaud Estonia as well, that's one of my favorite ESC countries ever.

Exactly what I meant to say! It's not that A-lister has a bad message, it's just getting whiny and repetetive, which takes away from it.

Besides, I think Estonia voted for their favourite songs tonight, and not because they were in estonian xshrug

Whiny ftw xcheer

I think they did aswell, but the thing with the Estonian selection is that it's so... I dunno... pure. They couldn't care less about what they assume could "work" in ESC (and that's where the language thing comes into consideration... because in many cases there's this "idea" that English will directly mean more success and therefor they translate and stuff... in particular small countries have a tendency in not believing that anything in their won language could actually work).

Got it! Yes, we're Lucky to have Eesti Laul in Eurovision. I agree that countries should solely consider whether they like a song or not, and not if it's gonna do well in the competition. Then I guess we'd automatically have more songs in native languages. But honestly that's your "cause" not mine. I just want interesting music.

I'm here for the music, but I'm also here for EUROvision which imo always was a concept to bring Europe together sharing, not homogenizing but rather celebrating the diversity.

Oh well... Sandra ftw xcheer

I'd also be ok with Traffic I think.
