The real question is: which one of these will be sacrificed to open the show...

Hopefully none. Considering how Queen Amandine got thrown under the bus it can also be a slow song. Probably us.

Its fascinating how people are viewing this year. It really does feel like marmite, people are absolutely loving it or disliking it quite a bit.

One observation that is hard to dispute, and we can debate until the cows come home whether it is a good thing or not, is that it does feel an extremely contemporary Eurovision in terms of sound and presentation. We don't even have one real eccentric act or one song completely in the native tounge! Very unlike Eurovision. But Eurovision has always evolved one way or another and developed, so perhaps this is the start of something.

Well, that depend on when YOU first attended the Eurovision Song Contest. ;)
In the 50s, 60s, 70s and the 80s there weren't much difference in sound or music... It has ALWAYS been contemporary music that has been the viewers first choice.
And there is not difference today.... :D

I hope not :( that would be unkind to put again a country from the big 5 first.

Really? I'm not sure if I'd agreed with that personally! I mean, last year did indeed have quite a lot of contemporary hits, Heroes and Rhythm Inside especially. But at the same time, it was very Ballad fueled, which I don't think the charts over Europe and Australia are. I certainly never hear anything like A Monster Like Me, Grande amore or A Million Voices on the radio. And, although we don't get many eccentric/quirky acts like Iceland in 2014 with No Prejudice much anymore... I wouldn't say they're very contemporary either!

I do believe there is a very Eurovision sound that has developed over the last 15/20 sounds, songs like Love Shine a Light in 1997 or A Million Voices showcase that sound pretty well imo. I just think that is slowly fading away. I'm not sure how well Marija Šerifović who won in 2007 would do this year, for example.

They're just my observations though, I guess everything sees something different in Eurovision haha. :D

the way i see it, france and armenia are the biggest beneficiaries of this running order? really feels like they want russia vs ukraine to not be a thing

YAAAY, Poland is in the final, I'm so happy! xyaaay
I was so worried about Michał, but he performed really well! And he made it! xyes

I even cried tears of joy, when Poland was announced.
And now I'm so glad to get the opportunity to vote for my favourite in the final. xyaay
Btw, Michał gets a lot of support here in Russia, there are a lot of his fans here. And I really hope Poland will get points from us in the final, that would be fair.:D

I also liked Australia and Latvia, their performances were really powerful!
Israel, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia were really good too!

Overall, the SF results are surprisingly great this year. It's actually the first time when my whole top-5 is in the final.

Re: ESC United LIVE from Stockholm - TONIGHT: Grand Final - Jury Show

My thoughts about semi 2:

I think semi 2 was much better than semi 1. I really enjoyed the opening and interval acts. They were both much better than in semi 1.
I also liked the video about the history of Eurovision. Maybe they could have used a different video at the beginning. If there were any changes, I didn't notice them.

Semi 2 was also much funnier. The vibrator joke made me laugh.

I hope the grand final will be even better but I don't have high expectations for the interval act knowing it will be Justin Timberlake.
The grand final could also be spoiled for me by an awful winner.

At least semi 2 was great. ;)
