I still haven´t heard the Spanish entry, but I´m just not impressed with all the other entries chosen so far.

Actually, the only one that is growing on me is :al:. Everything else is just meh.

So the first year I get to go to Eurovision and cheer on my country and this is what they gave us to cheer on? Disappointed...:(
Well at least next time you won't have many expectations, which might lead to a more enjoyable show...yes, I know, it doesn't help much...

I have a feeling that an eastern country will win it this year (mostly because of Russia and Armenia).

Hehe it's always best to not have expectations going in I do believe. It's just that Loïc Nottet got me so excited about Belgium since it was the first time in a long time that Belgium put a real effort into ESC.

those very naughty boys and girls at DR have removed the video from tonight so we are stuck with the audio only video until we get a new live one

I predict this to be a terrible ESC edition.
So far none of the participating songs even meet ESC quality.

I like every song apart from albania

Definitely shows how taste can differ from person to person... Albania's song is the only one selected so far that I particularly like

Still, I imagine the quality of songs selected will go up as we get things from stronger countries; note that we still don't have any songs from 24 out of last year's 27 finalists.

Thank you :)

I should just add that every year it feels like that at its early stages, but then somehow everything always seems to fall into place.

PS Albania's wonderful! ;)

Yeah - there are a lot of effects that the annual doom-and-gloom threads usually don't take into account, I think. Most of the 'big' countries reveal their songs later on, while earlier on we tend to get a lot of filler stuff that's eventually eliminated; even then, about half of the early reveals tend to get significant revamps before the contest. Already that means we're mostly getting incomplete versions of the weaker songs, which is never going to feel good. Plus, plenty of entries that don't amaze at first can improve immensely live in May (Iceland 2013, Austria 2014; there are plenty, mostly depending on personal opinion). Add to that the fact that we've got a lot of internal selections with little known info this year, plus a higher count of participants than before, and... yeah, this point in the season was always going to feel kinda weak. One way or another, I'm pretty sure the quality of the songs we're getting should go up before too long.

That said, I'm not guaranteeing it'll be a strong year - certainly, most of the countries that've chosen so far sent something better last year - just that it's too early to judge one way or another. Hoping for another good year!

definatley that's the best thing about Eurovision everyone has completely different taste in music and there's all kinds of age groups who watch it.
