from what i know (a chinese friend already talked to me about Hunan TV when we were talking about media) it was one of the biggest channel in China (like top 3- top 5) they're airing a lot of "young" programs, Drama (tv show/series), Contest Show (like Idol), Anime. They're more into entertainment programs.
I remember that they air in all China + Macau, Hong-Kong and Taiwan. I guess they should have a huge audience. wyq614 correct me if i'm wrong.

According to reliable statistics, Hunan TV is the second most watched Chinese TV channel after the CCTV-1 of Chinese Central Television. It is well-known for its entertainment programs, a lot of famous Chinese entertainment programs like "Voice of China" is originated from Hunan TV.

Although it is only a provincial TV channel, it has an international channel called HUNAN TV WORLD, which extends its audience to the overseas Chinese in all continents.

Another country hooked! Before you realize it, you'll be competing too!

This really comes as a surprise to me as well as all the members of our small Eurovision fan community, when a employee of Hunan TV actually contacted us and asked for some help. We're so glad to see that while CCTV suspended the broadcast of ESC to "hide itself from Conchita Wurst", there are still open-minded channel that is ready to work in this project.

Maybe the participation of Australia had an influence on their decision too. The fact that the contest catches the attention of major countries in other continents may have made them consider giving it a try on a leading tv channel.

China's HUNAN TV is to broadcast ESC 2015 live (BOth semifinals and final), this will be the first time that a ESC edition will be broadcast live in China!

Is HUNAN TV a big broadcaster?
