Tiden er gået i stå

Du er kvinden, jeg еr manden
Hele gulvet er gået fra forstanden
La' os øve på hinanden

Tiden er gået i stå

I agree! And Denmark has to beat countries such as Portugal and Austria that will score well with the juries.

Yeah, it's a shame that juries are constantly such party poopers and go for these boring conservative tracks... oh well...

It's not that I expect Denmark to qualify but I really hope for it... I think being daring should pay off ! And this is in a sense a daring track (first time we have Danish in ESC for nearly 25 years, a complete unapologetic nod to the 80's and not just jumping on the influence trend but going all in, just pure non-pretentious fun).

What's killing Denmark, are Jesper's vocals, and nothing else.

One of the biggest festivals was literally named Vaš šlager sezone (Your Schlager of the Season) and it was all schlager songs, so yeah.

Oh, that's fun didn't know :)

But yeah, I know that schlager was an actual thing in Yugoslavia (I mean we saw it in ESC too), so do you think ExYugos would relate to the Danish entry or not?

Another weird thing from the odds: Albania has currently about twice as good a chance of qualifying for the final as Denmark, but Denmark is 9 places further up the ranking than Albania when it comes to the chances of winning the whole show.

I think younger generations would either hate it or like it "ironically" as a gag, but from the older viewers it could receive some positive reactions and see it as a cute throwback, but mostly you can never know with out audiences. xshrug

True that...

Interesting though, although there's just Serbia in this semi so not enough "data" to make some sort of analysis from...

IF Denmark manages to qualify, it'll be interesting to see how certain parts of Europe will react.

In an interview published today, Fyr & Flamme name four bands that have inspired them: Pet Shop Boys, Queen, Modern Talking and Laban. Makes sense.

There was a thread about Eurovision on Italian reddit a couple days ago, not many people commented the songs, but Denmark was one of the most commented about. People were pleasantly surprised in hearing italo-disco in 2021 (not sure if it really is italo-disco, but they described it as such). If there is a predicted non-qualifier that can sneak in the final it's definitely this song.

I can actually hear a bit of "italo-disco" in this too, unfortunately for Denmark, Italy isn't voting in semi 2, nor are Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Norway that have schlager traditions.

Well, of all Danish bands, Laban is the one they feel most inspired by (as mentioned above), and one of Laban's biggest hits was a Danish version of an Italian song from the early 80's - so it makes perfect sense.

And yeah, a real problem for Denmark that these countries can't vote tonight. That could be the reason why the bookies rate the song lower than others do.

Makes sense!

Yeah, if those countries would vote, and adding Croatia as well, then Denmark might have had an easier time.

Although, I still cross my fingers that people will simply enjoy this for what it is and feel the nostalgia, the 80's sound should resonate with some while the Schlager touches should at least not be too out of place for Austrians, Swiss, Czechs and Poles who all have their own forms of that.

Although I wouldn't really call this a schlager song, more 80's Pop to be honest but yeah there is a bit of schlager there too.

I’m not even Danish, but regard Hvor skal vi sove i nat as a classic. Better than the original Italian version.

We have a Swedish (sung in Scanian dialect) version of that one too! It's a regional classic in southern Sweden :)

I am feeling that this will take the place of Moldova, Serbia or Albania.

A cheerful song to end the semi final. 10 points from me.

I'm saying this in the best way possible - they look like drunk aunts and I love them for it.

The song, on the other hand....I wouldn't mind if it qualified.
