The Danish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019, is now over. Here the super final results:
1st Leonora - "Love is forever" (42%)
2nd Julie & Nina - "League of light" (35%)
3rd Sigmund - "Say my name" (23%)
Congratulations to Leonora for winning tonight. The question is, how will she fare at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in May? That's a questionable matter. Although Leonora has a beautiful voice, and "Love is forever" is a nice ballad, I think the style of song sounds worryingly similar to Switzerland's "In Love for a While" which finished last with just 19 points in ESC 2011 Grand Final. Just like most countries, Denmark has to qualify from one of the semi-finals, and Denmark happens to be in the second semi-final on 16 May 2019. The UK has been drawn to vote in that semi-final, so I'll be able to vote for Denmark if I want to that night. If Denmark is lucky enough to qualify for the Grand Final, I think it "Love is forever" will suffer a similar fate to Switzerland in 2011. Time will tell. Personally I would have preferred Julie & Nina - "League of light" to win tonight, as I thought that entry was better, but that wasn't to be. Denmark has chosen Leonora - "Love is forever", and that's that. Well done to all ten artists who performed tonight, and in particular the three that made it to the Super Final.
