Beautiful, haunting, a bit sombre. I love it. The Czechs meant their return and they shall eventually be rewarded.

Likewise what people have said before me I'm finding this song a real grower. I liked "I Stand" when I first heard it, now I LOVE it. Gabriela just needs to sing her heart out on the Eurovision stage because she already has a great song.

It really took me a long time to warm up to I Stand. I found it rather good on the first couple of listenings, but nothing more. Now it has grown a lot on me - knocking on my top 10!

And I SO hope this will qualify. What a pity Gabriela is not in the second semi.

Yeah, it would've been so much easier if she was in the second semi.

Everyone calling this a grower, you do understand that's a bad thing in Eurovision, right? First impression is more important than anything else so reading these things, I'm starting to get worried about the Czech's odds.

I think that ČT made a mistake, the same as the last year, by releasing the music video first. You know, almost everyone seems to be a more or less good singer from the polished studio recording and knowing that, most of the listeners tend to be slightly reserved with their opinion until they can compare it with the live version. In this case, the first impression was generally much more positive than last year, but I still think they should let Gabriela sing it live in some tv show asap.

I still remember how were Marta and Václav perceived after the release of their mv - as two uninteresting fillers, technically good, but lacking chemistry and singing a depressive outdated song without the slightest chances to qualify (in the year full of ballads and duets). And they - just - didn´t qualify, indeed, but after their first televised live performance at Czech Music Awards, quite a few people changed their opinion about their chemistry and vocal abilities. After their performance at London Eurovision Party they were started to be taken really seriously. After all the charming interviews the way Eurovision bloggers were reflecting their entry changed significantly. And after the semifinal, Hope Never Dies eventually won one of the polls on this forum, asking which non-qualified entry was the best. Who would have expect that three months before (except for dearest RainyWoods ), judging Czech chances only by the little bit cold and distant music video? So, one never knows.

Knowing all that, it makes me slightly worried that Gabriela is probably not going to perform on any of the Eurovision events (I did some checking and all the terms collide with terms of her tour across Germany with some other rockers - unless she will be allowed to skip some of those concerts) and since release of the song, ČT seems to be done with it. That´s not how I imagine effective promotion strategy. But I still try to be optimistic. While live vocals of some other singers are questionable, I have no doubts about GG´s ability to make a good impression by performing live. The only doubt I have is whether she´s going to do so before the actual contest.

We need all the black magic we can get to make her advance into the grand final.
We will use this yugioh ritual card to make this happen. One ESC contestant must be sacrificed for this to work.
JPxBPzI.jpg

So this is what we have to do:
1. We need five people with everyone having its own "Circle of Chaos Ritual" spell card
2. We're sitting in a pentagon formation while casting a black spell
3. Sergey Lazarov will be in the middle of it all
4. After casting the spell Sergey will magically disappear and Gabriela will enter the final and score a placement inside the top 10

We need 4 more people for this to work, please sign up if you want her to enter the final:
1. Oshawott
2.
3.
4.
5.

I didn't expect something really good like this from Czech Republic, but it shows that I made a mistake :)
I Stand is very emotional ballad and beats Australia

Resultwise, yes; being a "grower" is not a good thing... more instant songs usually get lots of more televotes. But the juries might save I Stand. As long as Gabriela presents flawless vocals. The juries dont always go only for the most instant songs.
