After watching the live performance for 6 times in a row, I switched to the studio version/music video,
take a bite of my poison cake and join the party:

His outfit, the snake, him sitting like being on a throne and some parts of the arrangement... the whole aesthetics is giving me a bit of a "Look What You Made Me Do" (which is one of my favourite Taylor Swift single/songs) vibes, no?
Did he get inspired?

With a better staging and performance, it could work, not my favorite of the night though. I'm generally not obsessed about vocals but he is kinda putting his voice on the foreground here and is kinda singing... false? Both in the semi and finale he was way off.

Poison Cake is absolute hot garbage and noise just for the sake of it. One of my least favorite Croatian entries ever. Straight into my bottom 3.

The hour of choice has hit and my country made its decision.

I´m happy for all the people who love this and rooted for this (and clearly there is many).
Countless eurofans that do reactions will be fawning all over this.....
But you know what, I´m happy for them as well.

And who knows, this might even end up doing well in Basel. There is definitely reception out there for these sorts of contemporary acts.
And kudos to Marko and his team for the effort that they put in.

But I´m gonna drop the formalities now cause its time to talk about my feelings cause they are the most important thing at the end of the day, no cap.

I hate this song.
Very very much.

Even if it achieves a good result, my sentiment won´t change.

I don´t remember the last time something made me cringe super hard, but the "yummy yummy tasty" bit with that acting performance sure did just that. It feels very reminiscent of some random clips I might find on TikTok or wherever else.

Unfortunately, its pointless for me to explain why this simply does nothing to me, why I can´t relate to it and why I almost feel like an outsider listening to this.

Instead, I´m just gonna lay down, stare at the celling and finally admit: "I´m fucking old".

The Croatian national final, Dora 2025 Final, is now over. The winner is Marko Bošnjak - "Poison Cake". Having won the jury vote with 83 points, he finished just 4th with 47 points in the public vote. Still, that was enough for Marko Bošnjak to win outright with 130 points. Congratulations to Marko Bošnjak for winning. Although I wasn’t particularly keen on that entry (I placed it just 15th in My Eurovision Scoreboard), he did well to win in a competitive national final. So Marko Bošnjak will represent Croatia with "Poison Cake" at the at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel in May. Croatia is drawn to perform in the second half of the First Semi-Final on Tuesday 13 May 2025. I won’t be able to vote that evening, as the United Kingdom doesn’t vote that evening. Good luck to Marko Bošnjak in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 First Semi-Final, and in the Grand Final if he gets there.

Well done to the other 15 finalists who took part tonight, no matter what their scores, and where they placed, in both halves of the voting and overall. Remember, they too did well to get through one of the Dora 2025 Semi-Finals to reach tonight’s Dora 2025 Final.
