:10: points for now. Studio version is great I’m not fully convinced by the live version yet.

Let's be honest, this is utter trash. But many people enjoy trash. It does have an infectious beat and is at least better than the musical atrocity that was last year's Croatian ESC-entry.

But remembering the true wonderful quality entries Croatia has sent to ESC in the past, like f.ex.

1995 Nostalgija
1998 Neka mi ne svane
1999 Marija Magdalena

it seems Croatia has forgotten what makes a beautiful melody and quality entry and now just go for novelty-factor/performance/stand out-entries in ESC. A great pity in my view. Give me a beautiful, quality Balkan-ballad, Croatia and you will get my 12 points.

The whole thing sounds and looks endearingly cheap, so much so that it feels hard to hate on what's such a bless package. The verses are actually quite infectious and chug along with a nice (if annoyingly repetitive) rhythm. The lyrics on the other hand are.. let's say, questionable. As for the chorus, it's highkey naff. This honestly feels like something ripped out of mid to late 00s Eurovision, for better or worse. I lean towards a bit of both. I don't actively dislike it but it's not doing particularly anything to warrant my adoration.

Do I prefer entries like this to [insert random The Voice contestant wailing some beige song camp entry here]? Absolutely. Any day of the week. I would take Rim Tim Tagi Dim over three minutes of my senses being assaulted by Estonia's entry as well (the novelty entries this year are rough). I just think Baby Lasagna's song is almost obscenely overrated. It's the kind of kitsch Moldova would send, sure, having its fanbase but no one really caring too much until it somehow lands top 10 at the contest (so actually a decent result isn't out of the question). It's just weird seeing everyone immediately and immensely besotted with such an entry and performance. This is Croatia though and so I want to see them do well. They're an underdog Eurovision country, I guess much like Baby Lasagna himself who only through sheer luck got given the chance to compete. People like underdogs. I like underdogs.

I'm going to give a kind :6: points. This needs so much work though to justify the hype. Get on it.

This is such a unique scenario that I never felt before.

Because...

Previous years when we sent something that carried hype pre contest I would also be on that hype train. I´m talking about entries like "Lighthouse", "Tick Tock" and "Mama ŠČ" (well the last one was mostly hype in Croatia and it only grew somewhat later for outsiders).

Then you had years where we sent dead on arrival acts that I won´t even mention cause there is too many of them. And I felt miserable with everyone else cause I hated those acts as well.

This is the first time that there is a huge hype brewing for our entry.....but I´m personally not feeling it.

Even back when the songs were just revealed, this entry was just kinda okay for me.
But then again, there was not really any song on this year´s DORA that I was genuinely invested in.

Objectively speaking, this is strategically the only correct choice. I´m very glad about the landslide victory.
And If it scores well in May, it is only going to expose HRT selection commission further and I´m always happy to see that.

As for me though, I don´t think I can give this more than :5: or :6: points. This industrial sound is something I actively listened several years back but now I kinda grew tired of it.

I love it - one of my absolute favourites so far. And I don't find it 'trashy' or 'cheap' at all (contrary to what I think about the Finnish entry - which is exactly that IMO).
And he just seems like a genuinely sweet & authentic guy.
So, 12 points from me!

Well it's the least annoying of the try-hard deliberately 'wacky' acts so far this year. That's a great back-handed compliment if ever there was one! :ROFLMAO:

But compared to Estonia and Finland - especially Finland - this is a masterpiece (I scored this :3: points btw which is huge compared to Estonia's :1: and Finland's :0:). It's still not ideally what I'd like in Eurovision these days with its more 'cooler' and wider accepted image (again from my perspective as a UK fan), but it could be worse. It's very much on the borderline of being either truly horrific or truly entertaining.

It's not my favourite, far from it, but it's definitely not the worst! What an achievement! :D

Part of me does think this, Estonia and Finland will now all dilute each other in the vote come May which may seem them all underperform to an extent. They're all going for that same vibe, but Croatia is definitely the most polished of the three.

The chorus falls flat sadly which is why I don't see this pulling a Käärijä; it's the strophes and the bridge which are fun. This will be hit even harder by a low jury score I fear while I simultaneously don't think it will reach Käärijä's extreme high in the public voting. I don't get winner vibes from this.

Nevertheless kind 10 points, and if this stays as fun and engaging in May, I will make sure to leave some votes as well :giggle:

but Käärijä almost won so then this could as well
I don't think Croatia will win but top 5 is very likely, I smell the highest finish for Croatia since 1999. Out of selected entries so far only Ukraine gives me winner vibes. But Croatia often does worse than expected so maybe around 10th place is a likelier finish.

10 pts.

Studio record is great, energetic, fun. Then you watch the Dora final performance and get cringed so hard xcrazy

The only thing I like is the song itself. His vocals, staging, outfits... everything has to change!

Even Bosnian news portal published article about plagiarism of baby lasagna and being identical/similar to party in my head of Swedish band pain and same as espectro of DJ Adrian vega. In his team they said they bought sample of the other song. They also mention same style and outfit as kaarija. Someone in comments said they even copied Poland 2014 with girl washing clothes.

well if they indeed bought the sample i'm afraid this could mean trouble i guess, as sampling isn't allowed right? it would be "better" if they were rather accused of plagiarism because honestly i think i've heard a very similar riff (if that's what the talk s about) in several songs before (so i'm not sure if that would be held against them like in a lawsuit), but if they admit it is a sample of an already existing song i see how this could be a problem..
