Who's 37th? (curious about yours too @AndroZeus)

Mine's Romania 🙃
Poland. Purely for the atrocious delivery of every single word throughout the entire song, even in the studio version.

So Mrle from Let 3 and his wife joined a humanitarian project for Ukrainian children refugees in Croatia.

In order to help them learn Croatian, they will record an audio CD of Ukrainian tales and stories translated to Croatian. His wife will be the reader, and Mrle will compose the music.

I think not only Poland, but that's a political issue, so let's concentrate on tractors. ;)

This evening I 'ave been mostly listening to Croatia.....

There is no point in listening to this piece of music without having any visuals.

Only once you have the visual impact lodged in your memory, could you be able to appreciate it by your ears only. And once the visual impact is embedded in your memory, it then can become a totemic anthem in your head.

On a musical level it is so simple, almost ridiculous.

It is only on a political satirical level that it takes on any meaning.

But I feel that it's biggest appeal is appearing as anti-authoritarian. That doesn't just mean anti-Putin. It could also be anti-establishment.

These guys are very polished in their performance, and I expect that they will perform with some gusto in Liverpool. I'm pretty sure that it will proceed to the GF.

I am a Brit, and I do recognise that this song has a possibility of doing well with some of the televoters here because of its rebellious nature.

Yup, it's the whole act. That's what they've done their whole career. They have always combined unusual music, weird lyrics, with costumes, a symbol that would represent the whole idea, and then on top of that special visuals and graphic design.

So they are the band we always loved to listen and watch for the whole show.

That's because in the 90's, during the war, when music industry has become non-existent or predominantly focused on national feelings, they reoriented their work to composing music for theater plays or cinema. Even their first Croatian music award Porin was actually exactly for drama music.

Thereafter they had often been hired also as editors of TV programs, for example, they were conceptual authors and directors of the opening ceremony of Croatian music awards Porin.

Music of Mama ŠČ is purposefully ridiculous. It combines melodies of a military march, a lullaby, a children's play song denoting idiocy, and then insupportable operatic female voices reminding us of chaos, destruction, bombs falling around me, grenade launchers.

So yes, that kind of music only works as a concept with whole package.

They did something similar with their song mocking Angela Merkel, title was "Angela Merkel talks shit" 🤣

The music in that piece confronted all inconsistencies of her policy and identity or hypocrisy - they put into it elements from religious songs denoting her family tradition, they overlayered that with Laibach / Rammstein techno music they used in their pieces to mock communism and Nazism, denoting her allegiance to DDR and her leftist / hippie youth when she was inconceivable to be called a Christian Democrat. The lyrics were obscene, describing a person who bows to her unconditionally even when she "shits all over them"

"Thankfully to God and drugs we now have capitalism and liberty
Angela, my angel, enlight me, hear my prayers, then s**t on me"

🤣🤣🤣

Is this though accessible to all sorts of music audiences? Of course not.
