Well, I'm not sure if it is only me but I can't "relax" so much. Last part of song is flawless but simply, I feel some imperfections in first and second verses. Keep this stage on minimalism is right decision but I think there was too much minimalism here + I do not think this backdrop of Hvar works well. It is impressive video but not so much on for LED backdrop...I'm sorry, but I do not feel it is taken maximum from staging. Also, imo she should dress some effective white dress. On this too dark staging in dark dress there is no much effects. Furthermore, IMO in Stockholm she needs more lighting.
I can't understand people comparing her voice to Ellie Goulding's. Ellie could only dream to have a voice as beautiful as Nina!
The vocals were amazing from the beginning to the end. The word 'disappears' tickled me a bit, but that's it.
As for the staging, I think that will most probably be different.
Definitely the best live performance of the song so far! Gives me some more hope that this may make top 5 after all, despite drifting in the odds recently. She's improved her image a lot, and the vocals - particularly in the choruses - are sounding much more assured and steady than in previous performances. As I'm seeing it, there are three things they should be focusing on for now to really wow the audience in May:
I'm being a little harsh here, but it's just because I want to see the song do well. This really has the potential to sink or swim depending on what they do with it in the next month.
- Vocal refinement - She's improved considerably, but still needs more practice of the falsetto parts at the end of each chorus, where she continues to struggles a little, and adding backing singers who become more prominent as the song goes on would help a lot with build-up and power.
- Staging - The stage presentation here wasn't terrible, but it was static and unchanging for three minutes, making everything feel like a drag. It should start out calmer and more intimate - a faint blue with some smoke and the occasional flash of lightning, perhaps - gradually building to a huge, stormy climax with lights and wind.
- Most importantly, camera interaction - She's performing well vocally at the moment, but she's kind of just staring off into the distance, which makes the whole thing feel cold and unengaging. Looking at the camera and occasionally smiling would help this connect to the audience much better.
I agree about everything you said, unlike this. I think her interaction was well for a ballad.[*]Most importantly, camera interaction - She's performing well vocally at the moment, but she's kind of just staring off into the distance, which makes the whole thing feel cold and unengaging. If there is a fan favorite that goes way below expectations this is it, basically Maraaya 2.0. I remember last year after the initial hype and after fan event promo they started slipping in the odds and never recovered. This seems to be following the same path.
