It's not 'cause Bulgarians hosted JESC without even winning it, that they can feel themselves like the kings of the world...

For a country that decided to take part in ESC 2016 only in November (when most of the other countries usually decide in September), a delay in the preparation and presentation of the entry is normal.

And on Twitter BNT has said that the reason of the delay is because the preview video isn't ready yet, and not because of alleged delusions of grandeur.

In what sense king of something? They have submitted the song IN TIME and ACCORDING TO the rules. Every country could ask and to receive a delay for the presentation. And it's not only the Bulgarian song to be presented later.

Using the past tense instead of the past subjunctive is common in colloquial speech but it's not proper grammar. The Swedish song isn't popular here but at least it's not called "If I Was Sorry".

Of course we can end this topic but I don't understand why you wouldn't use it in the title.

Well, as you know the english are not so puristic about grammar as for example the french. You can actually find "If I was" already in course books.

You can also hear people say things like "I could care less", "irregardless" and in case of African Americans "we is". Native speakers say that but that doesn't make it good English. I understand that the past tense is commonly used but it sounds uneducated and unsophisticated to me. I would prefer a song title using the subjunctive, that's all.

You seem to forget that every language is a living organism, not something fixed and changes every minute. The common mistakes just become a rule afterwards. Because it's the language that serves the people, not the opposite. And in that case - there are many examples of songs that ommit the subjunctive and even songs sung by native speakers. I think Backstreet boys had a song that had If I Was...something in the lyrics. And be more tolerant to non-native speakers as well, especially in such a cases where there are minor mistakes and even natives often ignore the subjunctive.
As long as you can perfectly understand what's it all about, I don't see a big issue.

You know, studies have shown that foreigners who had mastered English as their second language are usually the harshest judges of what is acceptable in English and what is not. And you know why? This is a strategy to claim a higher position in society - or as Bourdieu called this phenomenon - they appropriate the language as a sort of social capital in order to promote themselves and raise their own worth on the social network market
