Rumours NF will take place on 1st of February. Chérine & Luka Cruysberghs( ex-hooverphonic) appear to not have made it into the final 8.

Peter Van De Veire said earlier on his radioshow that the names
of the artists will be released later this month. The list released by newspaper HLN wasn't totally correct. Noémi Wolfs already denied through instagram she isn't participating. Probably some names are right. I do think Jelle Van Dael & Grace will be competiting.

Jelle Van Dael went recently solo after being the frontwoman of the band Lasgo. Her song would probably be an english dance track.

Grace won the Voice of Flanders in 2021. A song of hers would likely be a english pop song.

I also believe Pauline Slangen will be in. She participated in the kids version of the voice a couple years back but has become more well-known after winning a competition called "Regi-Academy" on VTM. She worked with famous producer Regi ( Milk Inc) the past couple of years. Her participation will likely be a dutch pop/dance song.

Lastly, if the Romeo's competed, like insinuated in the article of HLN, I think they are too big of a name to be denied by VRT. They are a very famous and well-known group in Flanders who bring mostly Dutch Schlagermusic.

Belgium going fully traditional would be awesome, but i doubt it will happen.

Couldn't find any good live examples of traditional music with vocals, but i know it exists.

Fleming here. "Traditional" music as Fluke describes it isn't really a thing in the mainstream - It was when Laïs were a thing (back in the early-mid nillies), but only thanks to Laïs and it ended as soon as they faded back to obscurity.

(Urban Trad has a very good selection of traditional folk music from this era as well, dating from both before and after their 2003 ESC appearance, defo check that out if you're interested)

If the Romeos are indeed in... which -massive chuckle btw- that would be such a weird, leftfield pick. Schlager as they bring it is indeed the closest to... um... Volksmuziek (lit.: Folk Music, but really Music For The Common Man in practise). Think Sieneke (but less embarrassing). I do not know how internationally viable they are, but they are a VERY recognisable name that could win the televote.

I would be very happy with Grace who has released a few good songs and has a great voice, and likewise wouldn't be opposed to Paulien Slangen (if she's indeed in).

But then again, I missed Peter Van de Veire's radio statement so i have no clue about the accuracy of what is being reported here. Can someone else corroberate that?

By the way, this is a recent live performance by Jelle van Dael, dating back to August. This won't be the song, but it gives an idea what to expect from her:

The Romeo's are rumored in the article by HLN above. They are not confirmed yet. The same for Pauline. Redactie24.be reported on the statement. I Haven't heard it myself either. The article also mentioned the release of the artists later this month. Chérine and Luca apparently shared the news on a livestream on TikTok.

It would be a totally different songchoice than past years but something like "Viva De Romeo's" or "Catharina" would do decent at eurovision i think.

More news tomorrow apparently. Potentially artist release?

Peter Van De Veire as well hinting on his instagram there will be more news tomorrow during his morning radioshow. Probably artist release, or otherwise more information about the preselection.

VRT just relaesed the 8 artists. Are competing:

- Grace Khuabe
- Jelle Van Dael
- LEEZ
- Le Manou
-- Lenn Neefs
- Mentissa
- Red Sebastian
- Stephanie Callebaut

Grace ia the winner of the Voice of Flandeds 2021. Jelle Van Dael is the former frontwoman of the band Lasgo
Le Manou is a band who mostly do French songs. LEEZ is a semi-finalist of the Voice 2021 and sister of the more famous singer Metejoor. Lenn Neefs is the grandson of Louis Neefs, who ended 7th in Eurovision 1969 with " Jennifer Jennings". Mentissa won The Voice Kids in 2014 en ended 3 in The Voice France 2020. She is a coach The Voice Belgique ( French version). Red Sebastian competed in Belgiums Got Talent, is a student of Gustaph en participated in Sing Again on VTM last year. Stephanie Callebaut is the former frontwoman of the indieband SX, her first solo song was in dutch.

Songs wil be released in the beginning of 2025. NF will be on februari 1.

I am hoping for Mentissa.

Seems like there are quite a few acts that sing in French which means they won't be winning as this a VRT year.

Mentissa is a pretty big name to be honest, I can totally see her winning.
Another French-speaking act that intrigues me is Le Manou. It may become the indie track we all end to love, as" Kur?" or "99".

Not doubting that but I can't see a French song winning in a VRT broadcaster year. It's only happened once in the last 30 years and that was :be: Kate Ryan - Je T'adore which only has two words of French in it so not sure you would even count that.

There will be Jury Votes in the grand final too. Mentissa will probably score high there. Just because Chérine didn't win last year, doesn't mean any french song can't win. Mentissa is a bigger artist than Chérine as well.

Lets just wait until the songs come out. The best one will probably win.

MENTISSA xheart xheart xheart xheart

She has been a WANT for several years, and I'm pleased she was good enough to include.

Le Manou is more likely to sing in French than Mentissa is, imo.

Also did the article imply Stephanie might sing in West-Vlaams? lol.
