Oh, I know two people from Logatec. Actually, I had a fried/mate at the university from Logatec. Super smart guy, also a musician. I hope EscGeek he is not that person

As for your favorite town/village in Slovenia, Ribnica is famous for product made of wood. They used to travel around and sell their product. Their business is almost proverbial in Slovenia.

One of my least favourite acts this year; from the voice, the "like it", the arrangement. I''ve heard worse though - so I will reward this a 2.

This would absolutely kick ass in JESC

also for some reason when she sings "karma" I think she's singing "Barbara"

Out of the 3 dance songs this year (seriously, what happeed, Europe? Just three? Do you need a hug or smth?j I prefer The Swiss one. But Cyprus an this are about on the same level. Oh wait. There’s Spain too. Nope. Don’t like Spanish one.

I fbally listened to to all the songs and I find second semi more interesting. And ZENA very comfortably advances from sf 1.

idk. to me uptempo doesn't necessarily mean dance song.
Norway i wouldn't dance to. bop my head... maybe jump up and down.
Estonia is definitely not a dance song in my mind.
Azerbaijan... LOVE it but again... i can slowly shift my weight from one foot to another if I'm already on a dance floor and have few drinks in me.
Malta JUST dropped. I haven't heard it before right now.

theoretically you can dance to ANYTHING.
maybe i should qualify it as summer party happy dance songs... stuff that makes you want to jump up and move to the beat. Only four (as i remembered Spain) fit that criteria.
maybe it's a time bias but i feel like there were more happy songs in the years prior... maybe not. but it feels that way at least.

ETA: forgot about Serhat. Which in this thread is unforgivable. After all he’s singing I Love Belarus with a different chorus. Lol

This song is a perfect definition of it's so bad that it's good. The whole image and the sound is so early 2000s Britney and Xtina. I have actually grown to enjoy it. Giving it a 6.
But I don't think it should qualify at the expense of some better entries.

what better entries?
Semifinal 1 sucks.
I think this is just OK, and it easily makes my top 10 from that semi.
It would have absolutely no chance in semi 1. And some DNQ's from semi 2 will be better than this. But for once Belarus lucked into an entirely open semifinal.

I agree with your assessment of the semi 1. I think that there are very few sure qualifiers and non-qualifiers in my opinion, which means that it is an open battle. However, I do admit that I prefer semi 1 as it is less "Americanized" from the semi 2. Basically all big fan favorites sound to me like American radio songs. I am repeating this claim now for 10th time, and I still stick to it. ESC is losing its "European" taste and sound. I hope that a song in national language or at least with typical national sound wins the whole thing.

I agree with you to some extent. I don't like westernization/Americanization of Eurovision as well. But I don't think that's the reason for semi 2>>>>>>>semi 1. Idk what happened this year. Sheer quality of the songs Americanized or not, is way down. But it's kind of the result of voting, especially jury voting in the last few years. Countries are trying to cater to those "experts" and in the process lose their originality. I long for early - mid 2000's when we could count on Balcans to deliver gorgeous ethnic ballads. I appreciate Hungary and to some extend Italy being "honey badgers" who don't give a f. Portugal too, even if it's SO not my cuppa. But majority are trying to win and are choosing the easier way out.

I know I have a long list of faves in my signature, but I'm emotionally connected to or invested in maybe a handful. The rest are just quality songs that are good enough.
Usually I have hard time choosing top 10 in each semi because I have top 12-13-14... this year it's like... well I like 4 songs in semi 1... who do I not hate too much to round up the top 10 lol
