Morgen
Thanks to anselm for doing some corrections on my translation of the lyrics
Founded in 1977, they are still active, successfull and had 9 of 10 Albums since 1985 on #1 in
and charted also in
and
many times and are known for their satirical songs, but maybe first for some nonsense/comedy stuff. This song is the last song from their first album which reached people outside of Austria: Geld oder Leben (Money or Life). Oh, and this album contains with "Ba-Ba-Banküberfall" also the only song they made a english language version for, the english one is called Ba Ba Ba Bankrobbery:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gSEhNPKT9g (the german lyrics are better ^^ and in general its not their best for me).
I have choosen "Morgen" because it shows a different side of the EAV for the people who already know them from their hit-songs like "Ding Dong" or "Küss die Hand schöne Frau".
Translation as text:
(whistling)
(Pfeifen)
I wake up in the afternoon,
my heartburn is enormous
Ich wach auf am Nachmittag,
der Sodbrand ist enorm
yes, yesterday I was in a jolly mood!
Ja gestern war ich wieder gut in Form!
on the roof of my mouth the devil sits
the eye is darkred
im Gaumen sitzt der Belze Bub
das Aug' ist dunkelrot
the pituitary plays the melody of death!
die Hypophyse spielt das Lied vom Tod!
while i am vomiting
I feel the need to swear to myself
während ich mich übergeb'
schwör ich mir ferngesteuert
if I survive this day
I will never drink again.
sofern den Tag ich überleb'
es wird nie mehr gefeiert.
Because tomorrow, yes, tomorrow
I will start a new life
weil morgen ja morgen
fang ich ein neues leben an
and if not tomorrow
then the day after
or at least some day
und wenn net morgen
dann übermorgen
oder zumindest irgendwann
I will start again
a new life!
fang ich wieder
ein neues Leben an!
But as I walk around the corner
I see my favourite pub
Doch wie ich um die Eck'n kumm,
seh' ich mein Stammlokal
and again I have no other choice
und wieder hab ich keine and're Wahl
Because Franz, Joe and Ferdinand
are already there
Na weil der Franz, der Jo, der Ferdinand
sind auch schon wieder da.
well, what is so bad about a tiny glas of wine or two?
Na, was macht denn schon ein Achterl oder zwa!
At the fifth big glas my conscience
still tries to bug me
Beim fünften Viertel quält mich noch
der Gewissensbiß
but why should I stop when this day
is already screwed up
Doch was soll's, wenn dieser Tag
sowieso verschissen is!
Oh tomorrow, yes, tomorrow
I will start a new life
Doch morgen ja morgen
fang ich ein neues Leben an
and if not tomorrow
then the day after
or at least some day
und wenn net morgen
dann übermorgen
oder zumindest irgendwann
I will start again
a new life!
fang ich wieder
ein neues Leben an!

(Musik-Intervall)
It's 4 o'clock early in the day
I'll call my sweetheart now
Es ist 4 Uhr in der Früh
ich ruf mein Schatzerl an
and gently I babble into the phone:
und zärtlich lalle ich ins Telefon:
"Darling, I was stuck in there
y-you know in my fav'rite pub
„Du, Mausi, ich bin hängenblieb'n,
waaßt eh, in mein' Lokal,
oh, it was surely the last time
I swear!
doch des war bestimmt des letzte Mal
Ich schwörs!
see, the main thing is we love each other,
you know how I love you!"
Schau, die Haupsach' is', wir lieben uns,
du waaßt wie ich dich mog!“
after that my darling says:
"Listen to what I will tell you
Drauf sagt zu mir mein Mausilein:
„Horch zu, was i dir sog:
Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow
i will start a new life
Morgen, ja morgen, fang' ich
ein neues Leben an!
It's surely gonna be tomorrow,
not the day after
or just some day
Ganz sicher morgen,
net übermorgen
oder vielleicht erst irgendwann
I will search for a man
who can do more than just getting drunk!"
such i mir an',
der net nur saufen kann!“
