Amen, I guess
You said that it's time for us to put
Our love to rest
Dressed in black, you left my neighborhood

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen

I bet it's just another funeral to you
But for me it's the end
A marching band are playing gone too soon

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?

'Cause it all feels like you didn't even try
Oh try, oh try, try to save us
All this time wasted on a lie

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen, yeah
Are you getting what you wanted?
Are you getting what you wanted?
Amen

When they called Moldova, I knew it was over.
I felt like it was over when they called Albania first and Serbia second, because I was then sure Denmark has already prevailed. Moldova is really a very unpleasant surprise. Denmark would have been far more acceptable.

Too bad for Vincent. But the song was really too weak. time for orf to brainstorm a concept for the future.
With new personnel please!! Borislav Milanov, Cesar Sampson should be on speed dial and tapped for next year. Eberhard Forcher and Kathi Zechner have made unpopular choices three years in a row now and apparently Eurovision is back to circus, so the classy high road doesn't cut it, means: Marvin Dietmann stagings don't cut it. I genuinely expected something mesmerizing but I was so bored. The only thing that went for Vincent Bueno was the big mess of the first four and the following two songs.

They got lucky with Conchita in a year when they wanted to withdraw, and they got lucky with Zoe who also really really wanted to go Eurovision, and with Symphonix.

In 2015, they forced Makemakes to sell their souls for a lot of money and zero payoff.
In 2017, they came up with a trite song that flopped hard in the televote and since 2019 they prove how out of touch they are.

These people don't trust the public to make the right choice, therefore we dont have a national final, but they dont make the right choice neither. Arrogance leads to failure, so if they keep sticking around, 2022 will be none the better.

First of all we should put all effort in a way more current, relevant song. (Even Cesars composition wasn’t a masterpiece but it was at least quite decent and good enough to please juries) ORF should contact Symphonix, Parov Stelar, any of the young talents we currently have so much...

I thought Nobody but you was stunning. I suffered one heartbreak in 2013, when Bandaloop car-crashed in our national final, because all the other options were so frickin trite.

I still listen to this song a lot, and have all remixes of it.

The other heartbreak occurred in 2015 wth Deladap, when Crazy Swing got disqualified. I was so obsessed with them.

If we don't have the budget for Symphonix, maybe we can ask Parov Stelar, Deladap or Bandaloop instead?!

What's wrong with liking genuine, original, authentic songs?

And please no (electro) swing at any time for :at: in Eurovision. If we are talking about Stelar, he has great non-swing songs...

There’s nothing wrong with that per se haha, that’s just a very subjective thing and I‘m not able to detect the logic behind your taste haha. But well...

Looking at his eyes you can tell he this was a very emotional performance for him even before he teared up the end (not surprising given what it was about) so I hope he got what he was looking for regardless of the result.

Too bad Austria didn't qualify again. I think the staging looked great and the composition was okay but I really didn't like the lyrics. They should have known better. I'm surely not the only person who thinks this was way too much Amen, Amen, Amen...

They also could have known from 2019 that great staging is not enough to save an Austrian entry. We don't have a diaspora or neighbors who vote for us no matter what we send. We need a good song that's elevated by good staging. I hope the ORF will seek inspiration from what went right in 2018 and send a song with more mass appeal again next year.

Vocally good (if you're into conventional vocals), but the song is really bland and a non-event.

I do think it was in the juries top. 10 however, but probably ranked very low with the televoters.

The jury thing is about egalizing diaspora. Eurovision in the 2000’s was terrible. People vote for flags first, the songs second. Just ask the Serb living in Vienna with a Serbian flag avatar which country he is gonna vote. Televoting was disengaging to viewers, not creating more interest. ORF bowed out and had no intentions to return. The introduction of juries made Eurovision great again. And you should know better than me that the juries back in Eurovision was actually ORF’s doing.
The problem is that there are also juries that vote for the flag first. We know who they are...

i think the song came across as boring as expected so imo not advancing to the final is justified. i think there were at least 3 other countries who failed to qualify that were better / more deserving than the austrian entry.

whoever threw in that orf should have cesar sampson on speed dial: why? nobody but you is actually his only good song. and we have a lot more to offer than the same people all over again.
and yes i think they made some weak choices but the thing is: it's really not like every austrian artist is interested in doin eurovision. i wouldn't have chosen vincent in the first place because it's not my personal taste and i don't see anything that makes him special, i'm sorry. but i KNOW they approach lots of different artists and most of them simply don't want to do it. ive heard the songs from the 2020 interal preselection and they were ALL weak. like REALLY weak.

i would love to see orf take a bit of an alternative approach, they have a very middle of the road taste imo

oh and i actually think that paenda last year was a good choice, the song just wasn't right (for her and for the event) and she wasn't at the right place as an artist. she improved a lot imo and has since released a few songs that would have been way more suitable for eurovision (definitely not saying that she should do it again, i just wanna point out that i think she basically was a good choice)

edit: oh and let me add: orf should stop trying to make their own people happen. they have a songwriting team and musical staff which is imo very old fashioned (just like orf is) and they clearly have no idead about exciting and fresh new music.
