No, I meant Sido. Just in case, the ORF would consider bringing him back after we had to bear him in "die grosse chance"....

As for Anna F.: I never understood what was so special about her.

since it is mid october now it seems like there will be no call for songs again this year but an internal nomination of artists and songs for the nf similar to last year.....

orf changes the format every year..... which is somehow a good thing.

I'm not so sure that it is the format that is to blame for the bad result.

But should we blame it all on plan? Would it end different with the same song if the plans were different? I don't think plans matter that way. The song is the point afterall.

exactly! We had had winners in recent years who were chosen in very different ways before the contest. And we had entries that ended at the bottom and also came from very different NF-formats or procedures.

i believe that there will be only one single show this year and not four like last year. and alice tumler will be host.

Alice is a good host for the NF. But why didn't they pick Miriam? I thought she did a good job last year.

That would be great! perhaps she can - like Conchita - use her second chance and proof Austria wrong for not choosing her right away!

- NF on 12 February (televoting + jury)
- 10 participants
- 9 of them are nominated by music expert Eberhart Forcher (good choice imo )
- the 10th participant will be determined by a Facebook wildcard
- participants will be revealed in early January

Wildcard:
- Song submissions can be entered to songcontest@orf.at until 11 December
- a jury will shortlist a certain amount of songs for a Facebook voting

Only one guy doing the nine nominations? Hopefully he's willing to pick things from a range of genres and styles; I'm worried that only having one guy choosing the songs could lead to a very same-y national final. That said, I'll have faith for now if you're calling him a good choice!

I like that they've simplified the format of the show significantly from last year. I get that some broadcasters want to go with a big, elaborate NF to find the perfect song & singer combo, or just draw in the public, but it always seems to end with a mediocre-to-bad entry that was just able to jump through all of the show's hoops (eg. Lithuania in most years). Hopefully there'll be something good from within the 10 entries though.

That guy picking the 9 artists is really into the Austrian music scene and has a Youtube channel where he presents new releases every week. He includes everything from mainstream to alternative so I'm pretty sure there will be a nice variety of songs.
