I'm really surprised how this song got the last place in the semi-final. I said it countless times that I dislike it, but it's incredibly catchy, I mean, after the SF finished, we were singing "Woki mit demi popo" with my brother, and it stuck in my head even until today, I still sing it all the time! It's annoyingly catchy, please get out of my head! That's why I cannot understand how it came last. If it came 11th/12th/13th, it would look reasonable, I'd think that it was only the juries that didn't like it. But last? I was sure people would vote for it because it's entertaining.

Maybe juries had it consequently on 18th place, so the televoters' say didn't matter at all.....

If juries disagree massively with televoters, it could still be.... even 10 or 12 points from televoters could vanish, if juries not only say zero, but 18th place.

It's not solely the points given which get combined, it's the rankings!

Really?
As far as I have read the rules, I understand that the 10 best placed songs from the jury and televotes receive points from 12 to 1 in each of the parts, and by putting these points together, the final placing is formed in the country.
So in my opinion it does not matter whether is 11th or 18th place in one of parts (jury/televotes), as it receives 0 points.

Actually it is, both televoters & juries give points Eurovision style and they're combined. So only 10 songs will recieve points from each group. IT doesn't matter if a song is in 11th or 26th place with the juries.

I calculated the scenarios when juries and televoters disagree completely.

If it's only on the Top 10, then all the songs which get 5 or less points combined, will drop. If it's on the entire ranking, then other songs will drop and moreover, the 2nd favourite of televoters can drop when it comes last with juries.

It all depends on how the votes fall. The full Jury results were posted in 2009 using the ESC voting style. Not a full ranking as it was proposed. Random Voting Example:

Televote:
12 Sweden
10 Russia
8 Serbia
7 Azerbaijan
6 Albania
5 Estonia
4 Turkey
3 Germany
2 Italy
1 Spain

Jury
12 Sweden
10 Serbia
8 Russia
7 Germany
6 Albania
5 UK
4 Spain
3 Azeribaijan
2 Estonia
1 Norway

Combined Points & Ranking

24 Sweden (12 Points)
18 Russia (10 Points)
18 Serbia (8 points)
12 Albania (7 Points)
10 Azerbaijan (6 Points)
10 Germany (5 Points)
8 Turkey (4 Points)
7 Estonia (3 Points)
5 UK (2 Points)
2 Italy (1 Point)
1 Spain
1 Norway

So it is definitely possible to receive low points, it all depends on how the votes fall.

I totally agree with every word you say ;) We could see how the audience was having fun with their performance and there certainly were worse and less catchy entries.

Austria is the avantguard of ESC. In 10 years, such a song will win!

Interesting. Looks like the video is about the public reaction to their ESC result. Anyone know if the lyrics reflect this in any way (I know it was written before ESC, but still...)?

Re: AUSTRIA 2013

Lukas Plöchl (Trackshittaz) & Ösi-Bua have a new song out: A fun song about being an immigrant. Lukas is Half-Chinese and Ösi-Bua is from Rwanda.

Sung in strong dialect (almost incomprehensible). Song ist called "Also nice"/"Nice in a different way"

It's cool to see immigrants wearing trachtenmode :D

This is great. :D I shall suggest it for FSC.

I didn't post that in this thread IOTAP

Someone thought it looks like a good idea to move my post right after Matt's post with the same song.

This belongs to the Austria 2013 thread where I post the freshest songs from Austria (and discuss trachtenmode with Laleh). It's not about "What became of...?".
