This is really nice to see those associations, but why on Earth most of you still mention YUGOSLAVIA and why still that association:(? I cannot believe! It has gone 20 years ago! Hallo?? :(

Because it's part of your history and it's commonplace for people over here to still call that area 'Yugoslavia' like it still exists . It's name lives on in the official title of one of the country's! ;)

I dont call it Yugoslavia personally, I say some people here do. I dont know much about the state of Yugoslavia, I didnt intend to cause any offense =//.
This is a game about associations. Associations can be anything true or false, good or bad. I didnt see any German people getting offended by me writing Hitler for Germany... nor did I get offended when people wrote colonialists etc. for the United Kingdom.

No, no Adam;) it is not your fault, I just said I am shocked that some people still don't know some facts....I mean, where ever the people are educated, such things should be known:) And 20 years isn't a short period!

Well it's not so much that people dont know that Yugoslavia has split up, it's just they choose to be ignorant.

I can see Vatroslav, cause I feel same when someone mentions Ottoman Empire, many people think that we still live with ottoman culture, we still wear fez, write in arabic alphabet etc. although it's been around 80 years since we left them.

But I'm also agree with Isabella, cause I should accept ( although it's so hard ) that we were a part of this empire and lived with such nasty culture for 600 years... And consequently, Thoughts don't change so fast. ( so, 20 years is a short period actually, considering our situation ;) )

Well Altug, I know for your situation and of course I know reality today. I don't think you are Ottomans, however you don't were headscarfs etc etc.
Isabella, of course I know that it is the unhappy part of our history, we still feel the consequences from that era...but ok, let's go back to the topic.
So, anybody else has some associations about our nice country???

I also don't see the fuss with Yugoslavia. If it is bad or not, we can talk in a different topic (this isn't the right place to do it), it is a fact that it had it's good as well as it's bad sides. I don't know why should I be ashamed or angry if someone connects me with Yugoslavia. It was our common country before. I personally can say that I lived in three countries so far  I was born in Yugoslavia, I lived in Serbia and Montenegro, and now I live in Serbia  I also don't think it is something we should be ashamed of. It is true that politicians ruined it and made our people hate each other, which is totally wrong IMO. However, from today's perspective, and under these circumstances, it would've been better if it was never created indeed. But for me all people of ex-yu (especially Serbs and Croats) are almost the same people. We have the same origins, but we are separated by religion and by faith. And now by the politicians as well. Not COMPLETELY the same people, but the same structure. Even our tempers are the same :)

@goktengri: Indeed, most people in :rs:, at least in my neighborhood still connect Turkey with Ottoman Empire . Everyone say "We were under Turks for 500 years"
