I have to study today but I need a break and that's why I've listened to all entries in full xD Here are my brief comments/ranking after the first listening experience:
05/10 Agop - Butterflies
Actually, I quite enjoy this. It's a bit retro Pop/Rock 90s but in an amateurish kind of way. It needs a really good revamp.
07/10 Arthur Aleq - Heaven
Wow! This has a lot of potential. It just needs a way bigger production. It reminds me of HURTS a lot! They should have done the dark synth-pop route way more obvious and straight into your face whilst adding some ethno elements and add a better middle 8 part!
04/10 Athena Manoukian - Chains On You
I love the seductive pre-chorus but the chorus itself is not my cup of tea: A minimalist RnB production and I can see a few Rihanna and Ariana Grande influences but it doesn't really work with her voice and the letdown production.
05/10 EVA Rida - No Love
What the f*cking hell?! She should have submitted that orange-cow-walking-around-Yerevan-and-entertaining-random-people song. "No Love" is just middle down the road. A mid-tempo song...the added "EDM" influences could have been way more prominent. I have a feeling that she didn't exactly know where to go with this track. It ain't bad but it needs a revamp!
06/10 Erna Tamazyan - Life Faces
Oddly entertaining and freaking catchy! It goes the Lenka, Lily Allen route. The laid-back production actually works here!
03/10 Hayk Music - What It Is To Be In Love
A mixture between a 90s Boyband piano ballad - very filler-ish and a Disney number. Meh.
04/10 Gabriel Jeeg - It's Your Turn
Swing/Jazz-y(?) - I like the entry's organic soul. English might not his strength, though? The song turns into a Eurovision-esque pop song for a few seconds before going fully Samba
03/10 Sergey And Nickolay Arutyunov - Ha, Take A Step
When I heard the intro, I thought that it's going to be a whisperingfest. I strangely think that the concept of the song could have turned into something great but it lacks an interesting production and a proper chorus. The chorus is very anthemic. Unfortunately, the lyrics are lazily written and filled with clichés.
09/10 Tokionine - Save Me
Most modern song and unlike the other entries, I think it's not a half-baked production. Damn, the chorus is so en vogue! Insane production, joyful and a lot to discover. I could live with this one as the Armenian entry, tbh! - It's an EDM song with a lot of brass!
02/10 Karine Evn - Why?
Worst song so far. Seriously, "this is not good, this is not cool" (part of the lyrics which ridiculously fits to the horrible lyrics). The chorus is trashy as hell.
08/10 Vladimir Arzumanyan - What's Going On Mama
VERY VERY VERY Shawn Mendes-esque, contemporary mid-tempo song. The chorus needs a stronger production, hook and (unfortunately) singer.
03/10 Miriam Baghdassarian - Run Away
Her voice is stunning! I love the high notes she's hitting in the chorus but unfornately, I don't know where the song wants to go. In the end, the melody has basically become absent and she's just trying to oversing it. It's almost unlistenable. Oh gosh, now she's just screaming and the backing singers basically try to save this mess.
