in my opinion, this year is worse winner-wise. In 2020 we had a lot of possible winners (Lithuania, Russia, Iceland, Switzerland, Bulgaria) and a lot of possible surprises (Malta, Germany, Romania, Israel), so the winner was very unpredictable. Now it's between Switzerland, France and Malta, I doubt anyone else can win this year.

So in the end for me both years kinda equal, when 2021 started it was losing all the way

So 2020 has a slight edge over 2021, but all in all pretty equal

in my opinion, this year is worse winner-wise. Finland may win if they win the televoting by a landslide and it is imho possible. The juries actually should not dislike them. San Marino, Lithuania are my other dark horses.

I felt like 2021 was a kind of weak year up until recently - in large part because I don't have as many 10- and 12-pointers as usual. But that feeling has faded away somewhat as the songs have grown... and looking at the comparison here, it actually seems pretty strong!

I'm still definitely feeling the lack of big favourites this year (NF season was not kind to me). And I wasn't a huge fan of 2020's lineup to begin with, so winning the comparison isn't *that* big a deal. But still, I think this comparison highlights what the strength of this year is for me: which is to say, it's got a really high floor. Usually there are 5-10 entries each year that just bore me, but this year there's kind of something I like in every entry!

Now just to wait for the live shows...

I only just recently watched the 2020 songs out of curiosity. I never watched them last year because the contest was cancelled before I'd usually start watching them.

Song by song I'd probably say this year is better, but the Armenian entry from last year is so good I might still give it to 2020 purely based on that being in it!
