2019 - Very close here. Eugent is the better performer but overall I think I marginally prefer this year's song.
2019 - Neither is perfect but I much prefer the creative, risky slant we're going with this year.
2018 - Both have nice mysterious verses; only one keeps that up in the chorus.
2019 - I do like me a good slice of ham (and wasn't huge on Franka last year).
2018 - Last year was a whole lot of fun and a personal top-10 for me. Beats out the "I kinda like it" song from this year.
2018 - Eeeeaaaaaasy pick. One I love, the other is a pile of twee mush I'd like to stay well away from.
2018 - I don't mind Storm but La Forza was right up my alley, and more of a standout. Another easy one.
2018 - Never quite got the hype over Madame Monsieur, but they definitely composed their own entry better than Bilal's.
2018 - I'm not in the group that hates Sister; Michael just had a somewhat better song with a more emotional performance.
2018 - I love both but as my #1 of last year, AWS easily takes the cake here.
2018 - MetaMoro had a strong, standout song; while I like Mahmood this year, I'm not really on the hype train.
2019 - Neither is really my cup of tea but Funny Girl got on my nerves for some reason and That Night doesn't, so yay 2019 I guess.
2018 - Not huge on either but I'll generally take "okay sappy ballad" over "okay midtempo radio pop".
2018 - Wasn't the best Balkan ballad, but hey, I like Balkan ballads enough to beat out this year's Montenegrin attempt.
2019 - The Humans did nothing for me; Ester Peony at least has some interesting elements and could grow.
2019 - Kind of an apples-and-oranges comparison between two things I enjoy, but I think Sebi's a bit more unique.
2019 - I actually liked Spain last year (before the revamp, at least). That said, Miki brings cheesy fun in a year that needs it.
2019 - Surie herself was lovely, but that's not quite enough here; see my Lithuanian comment above.
2018: 10
2019: 8
Seems about right, I guess. If anything I'd say things are a little more in 2018's favour, given that most of my 2019 wins are close whereas 2018 has a lot of my big favourites (Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary) that I prefer over anything chosen so far this year.
Here's hoping for this weekend to pull things slightly back towards the 2019 side of the scale! Which is absolutely possible if the favourites survive for once this season (KEiiNO, Hatari and Conan would easily beat their 2018 counterparts for me)... time will tell though, I guess.
