Re: ?????? - Morocco 2011

2M TV (2nd national TV channel, basically) applied for EBU membership.
It also broadcasts via satellite in Europe.
It's much more liberal than SNRT. They aired different international shows and TV series. From Buffy & Dark Angel to their own X-Factor (4 seasons, 2006-2009).
We will find out after July 31 if they get EBU membership.

And whether or not they recognise Israel.
uhuh, that's why Israeli politics visit this country?
Basically Morocco recognized Israel 16 years ago, it was one of few Arabian countries which treated Israel in more liberal way... of course their relationships weren't bright (esp after 2000), but during last few years they became warmer. Behind closed doors they are still collaborating, btw. Now we see some collaboration between ministers. Currently their politics towards Israel is a il' bit 2-sided (like it used to be all this time), imo. On public it's cold, in fact they have negotiations, in Morocco and outside of Morocco. Everything is possible, everything depends of their politics.
Imo, they won't join ESC in 2011 but maybe we will hear some word. Esp if the 2M TV joins EBU cuz this channel is more about entertainment, imo.

I hope Maroc will participate, and I think they would receive a lot of points of Belgian televoting ;)

No Morocco in the Eurovision Song Contest!
which means no Israel too

I've heard it somewhere... Germany is for Aryans, you know ;) , Europe is for true Europeans it seems... sweeeet

EBU rules perfectly define which countries have a right to enter ESC. Period.

Yeah, I'm still surprised about some misconceptions about the EBU/ESC rules and the intolerance towards countries that are not part of the european continent.
I personally would love for Morocco to return to the contest but I highly doubt it's going to happen in the near future but you never know.

I dont' want it too...

Sorry african neighbords, but I don't want in Eurovision a country that wants to invade Spain (and I'm not talking about immigration).

As I have written before..I am sure of that EBU follows the Euro-football qualifiying rounds, which lets countries like Israel, Armenia, Azerbaijan and even Kazakhstan.

So No, I don't think Morocco will be accepted in the Eurovision again. :p

Have you read the rules actually, esp the part about broadcasters who can apply? "Active EBU members" line ;)

I know the rules, but I think they are following the Euro-thingy in silence. :p
If it now happens that Morocco wants to compete and it isn't like full in each semi, then maybe they can join, since they have been competing before. But I hope that the planned Arabic Song Contest (whenever it starts..), starts so it can go there and not in Eurovision! :)

oh, so it should be discriminated because it's Arabian and not because it doesn't follow the rules?

Re: ?????? - Morocco 2011

It doesn't matter what we think or who we think should or should not participate at ESC. Fact is any member of the EBU can participate, that includes those northern african countries including morocco. The EBU cannot and will not deny them their rights to enter to conest regardless of any rumors that may be out there.

It saddens me how exclusive Europe has become. I think it's great to welcome more countries as long as we stick to the cap.

At the same time I don't think we'll have to worry about this as it's highely unlikely that any of these countries will join ESC in the near future.

Of course if they follow the rules, Morocco has the right to enter, but I still don't want to have them in ESC.
It's just an opinion, since I'm not the one who decides who enters and who not ;)

speaking of politics, racism, religious discrimination in ESC?
...

I have Arabian blood in me. Does this mean I'm not "European" enough to vote? ;) Risk and answer, please.
