EVA RIVAS INTERVIEW - First Time, Exclusively on Music Of Armenia!

Eva Rivas will represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo this year with her song "Apricot Stone". She speaks to Hasmik Movsisian about her plans, ambitions and dreams. Find out more about Eva in the below interview given exclusively to Music Of Armenia.

1.jpg

Where do you currently live and work?

I am currently based in Armenia where I am preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo. I am studying English and Armenian. I’m also working with a voice coach.

Do you think you will devote your entire life and career only to singing (music) or do you have other plans too?

I am currently studying at the South State University (in Rostov) in the World Economics faculty, but I don’t think that there will be a time when I am an Economist. Singing is the main passion in my life and has been since I was a child. All of my dreams and desires have always been connected with music.

Who, in the music world do you look up to and see as your idol and would like your music career to be like their careers?

I have four people who I have always looked up to. First, I have always admired Michael Jackson’s talent. I also always listened to Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera, and I considered their music to be educational. Now, my idol is Lara Fabian. She has amazingly beautiful and strong voice. She doesn’t only sing, she tells a story from her heart which I think is the key to her success. I also want to sing that way, telling a story.

Is there one musician that you would like to collaborate with (in a duet) in your music career?

I would like to sing with Charles Aznavour. He is a living legend.

What music do you like listening to and do you have one all time favourite song?

I don’t have an all time favourite song. I like to think of myself as a musical gourmet. I can listen to all types of music and can hear that special something in all of them. It also depends on my mood.

Do you personally like "Apricot Stone" song or do you only think it is a good commercial song and a good choice?

Of course I love it!

Do you think you (Armenia) have a chance of winning this year's Eurovision Song Contest or at least being in top 5 and why?

I think I have a great chance to win ESC. I have an excellent song, good voice, a professional group, a bright personality and I am going to have an amazing show!

Who in your opinion from the Armenian musicians who in the past represented Armenian in the Eurovision Song Contest gave the best performance overall and why?

I can honestly say that Sirusho gave the best performance. I think her performance was great because of the same things that will make my performance great.

Is there an Armenian musician you wish to work with?

I would like to work with Charles Aznavour, and I am looking forward to working with Jivan Gasparian.

Who is your biggest and perhaps only hero in life?

I have to say that my parents are my only heroes. I love them very much and I always try to be like them.

Is there anything you regret doing or not having done yet?

No, I don’t see any point in having regrets. I always like to look forward and not back.

Is there anything that you want to do and you know that you will definitely do one day?

I want to go to the top of Mount Ararat. I have a friend who has done it and he has promised that he will take me when I am ready. :p

Do you have a favourite quotation? Could you tell us?

My favourite quotation is from Caesar, ‘Come, see, win’

Do you have a favourite joke? Could you tell us?

I can’t say I have a favourite joke, but I always joke with my friends.

Do you have a message for your fans?

I would like to thank my fans for all the support. I hope that you will sing "Apricot Stone" with me for maaaaaany years. This is the most important thing for me. First of all, this will be my victory. I am very happy that I was chosen to represent my native country. Of course, I understand that this is also a GREAT responsibility and I would like you to know that I am full of strength and confidence, I will perform at the highest level and make you all proud of me.

Please support Eva and Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2010. :p :p :p

This song is one of the most boring entries this year, I'd say.
Ok, my music taste is much different than most of esc fans', but this song is definition of averageness and complete lack of innovativeness. What makes it better than thousands of similar songs already written?

dogmeat ,I can't agree with you. the song is really catchy & uptempo and it stands out from other song ' this year.the lyrics is meaningful. and it kind and sincere and it has its story :)
last year Rybak's song also wasn't masterpiece but it was sincere and like the singer himself .so is with Apricot Stone

Exclusive interview with Eva Rivas
30/03/2010

Eva Rivas shared with OGAE Armenia her plans for the future, about her life and and told about participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Exclusive, especially for you =)

Hello, Eva. We are very pleased once again to talk with you! We congratulate you on winning the national final.

Good afternoon, thank you very much for your congratulations.

- Eva, tell us about your life before you became popular in Armenia. What did you do?

I had a very interesting and rich life. After 22 years of my life I managed to survive a lot. And, in general, live and enjoy life, learning, in sports, to communicate with interesting people and, of course, singing! The rest, as far as I know, do you have on the site in my biography.

After the performance at Tashir-2009, many literally "fell in love" with your performing "Tamam Ashkharh. What did you feel at that moment?

I feel the passion and emotional excitement, the surge of feelings from the Armenian music in general, and has always been so. Perhaps in my youth I did not realize that this is my destiny . I was very nervous at first, because - it is one of the most complicated and ancient works of the great Armenian composer and poet of 19 century - Sayat Nova. But after I got the loudest applause of the evening, I calmed down. Today, Armenians from various points of our planet send me letters of thanks from the very kind words and wishes to achieve the most bewildering success, and that their support can I expect ... Believe me, this is very valuable. I understand that it is worth living.

- Who are the Armenian stars you've managed to meet and make friends?

I'm friendly and I communicate with almost everyone. With someone more with someone less, but I love them all equally much!

- Eva, you have long been living in Armenia. Have you had time to plunge into the life of the city?

Wholly and completely, and not only this city but are too close! I love every street, every column and a brick! I enjoy the beauties of nature and sights of Armenia! It is a pity that now I can not just walk calmly through the streets of Yerevan ... I really miss that.

- Eve, the feelings overwhelm you before going to the Eurovision?

Confidence, strength, responsibility, joy, happiness, love ... in short, all that is required for victory!

- Eva, in an interview Musical Staff of Peter Nalich , representing Russia at the Eurovision 2010, said that "We saw the girl from Armenia. We liked her. " Have you heard their song? If yes, whether you liked it?

I do not listen to songs of their competitors ... The only thing I steer my attention on- it is everything about the song Apricot Stone ... But I'm sure that Russia could not make the wrong choice and I can not wait to get acquainted with the Russian team!

In Ukraine, you and representatives of other countries spoke at the national final. How you met there? Have you had time with someone to make friends?

Greeted me very warmly and with great hospitality, for which I am grateful to the organizers. Time to make friends with the representatives of Georgia and Bulgaria. They were incredibly nice and easy runs on the contact persons. We immediately found a common language!

- Eva, will you shoot video? If yes, when?

The clip must be! Just do not want to lower the bar after we filmed the video for the song "Tamam Ashkharh due to lack of time. That is why the shooting of the video transferred in June.

- Are your costume, scenic image number? Could you talk a bit about it?

It's a secret, but I'm sure you all very much. Trust us, please!

- Well, well, maybe, and who helps you cope with the excitement on stage?

Well, if we talk about the Eurovision, I think the hope and support for more than 10 000 000 people - it is a good reason to be full of confidence, strength and peace ...

- Eva, what do you think that, above all, interested, and viewers will enjoy in your show?

In our performance there will be nothing that would not surprise!

- Eva, do you communicate with former representatives of Armenia? If so, do they share with you experience, help?

Of course! I greedily absorbed everything like a sponge, in order to improve my performance and do not make their mistakes.

- How much time do you spend on the Internet? We know that you have pages of many social networks. Do you have time to meet all the fans?

I really appreciate, respect and love all my fans and I always try to give everyone special attention! When I can not do it personally, send a response by phone manager. Communicating with the fans - this is the most important thing for every artist. If the actor does not, then we can assume that he did not take place.

- What is the "secret of success" Eva Rivas?

If I tell , it stops to be a secret ... ..

- Eva, tell me how to spend your free time (if there is, of course)?

I have no free time and do not want to, because that is what is happening in me - is called a full life.

- If you're not a singer, who would you see yourself now? Who influenced your creativity?

Despite the fact that the passions and talents, I sooo much, I have but one purpose - to be a performer. ... As a child I dreamed of becoming a singer. My dream has come true. And the options could not be. I'm sure of it.

- You thought about the future? What do you expect from him?

I do not think about the future, I build it. But you'll just about the most immediate plans - 1 place at the Eurovision. ... It is my goal and I will do everything to achieve it! I'm used to get what I want. It has always been and always will be.

- Eva, that you can wish the participants OGAE Armenia, as well as all fans and admirers of your art?

My dearess, do have tear yourselves from this interview! =) Stretch, walk up to the mirror and smile! Tell him (or her) "You're the most wonderful creation on earth, I love you" and go outside to meet your destiny ... Believe me, this is a very big step to success. I'm doing it every morning. I'm happy! Let us stick together as a unit! Let's give each other love and abundance of feelings! Let's help those who need help! Let like a big army fight for the victory of our wonderful country! Believe me, together we'll do it! I love you! " :p

Thanks for the interview, we will support you in every way and do everything in our power to about you and Apricot learned the whole world! Good luck in training and victory in Oslo. :D

Nope.Quite contrary. It's just according to your taste if you like just a few genres of music (say only rock or rap). But in general for a person who accepts and listens various genres of music this song is a good example of a beautiful harmony of ethno beats in modern interpretation and meaningful words which are easy to understand.

Armenia: Apricot crisis causes outrage

Apricot crisis causes outrage

Farmers in serveral small villages across Armenia have said to be suffering from a shortage in Apricot growth this season. One farmer, located in Kond, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Yerevan believes that the shortage is linked to this years Armenian entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. In a translation, Mr Areyan states that he has never seen anything like it, in all his years of farming. “The apricot growth has suddenly came to a standstill this season, we used to sell many apricots, within the space of 1 month our crops, especially apricots have stopped production and are now surrounded by all sorts of dirt, rock and stone. Mr Areyan continues to state that he believe Eva Rivas has something to do with the crisis. “Everything here was fine until she broadcasted her message through the song”

This unusual crises has caused outrage across small villages across Armenia, resulting in petitions for the lyrics of Eva Riva’s song to be changed to stop what is being classed as the “Eva Rivas’ Apricot Curse”. However, it is unlikely that the lyrics for the song will be changed as the final versions for all partipants of this years contest were handed to the EBU at the heads of delegation meeting last month.

Eva Rivas - Apricot Stone the new version
Written by ESC

The new version of Apricot stone from Eva Rivas is a fantastic melody. The improvements made are very important for the future of the song in Eurovision 2010. It seems that Armenia will not only be on the final but will finish at the TOP 3 position at Eurovision 2010. Watch the new video from Armenia.
